Samsung may not make the best flagship phone in 2025, but that won’t stop people from buying it, or keep the experts from using it as their daily. It’s a beautiful piece of hardware that most people are going to enjoy, and with current discounts heading into Black Friday, it becomes a no-brainer to pick one up if you’ve been looking for a new phone.
Samsung’s refinement pays off
Let’s get this out of the way, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is a very good phone. Those that have followed Samsung will say that the phones have gotten stale, or that they are lacking innovation, but most people aren’t buying these phones every year, and most people aren’t going to be doing deep dives into the specifications.
Most people just want this thing to work out of the box, and have it continue to work for years to come. Although hardware is a critical part of this, Samsung does its best to ensure this by providing its top-end phones with seven years of updates, which means that you’ll always have the latest software and features.
All the hardware you need
This phone features a large 6.9-inch AMOLED screen that looks amazing. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that’s paired with 12GB of RAM. You also get a choice of different storage options with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. This particular model, which’s $850, comes with 256GB, which should be plenty for most people. You’ll want to think hard about this choice because there is no microSD card slot for storage expansion. So, what you pay for is what you get.
At the rear, you have an arsenal of cameras, with a 200MP main shooter, 50MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, and 50MP telephoto. The photo and video quality of this phone is going to be pretty good for the most part. It’s not the best quality you’ll find on the top-end Android phones around the world, but it’s good enough, and will be able to capture everything you need to no matter the conditions. If photo quality is all you care about, you’ll want to skip the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The 5,000mAh battery provides all-day use, and the 45W wired charging should be enough to get you up and running in no time if you’re completely dead. Although wireless charging is also an option, it really isn’t all that quick on this phone, reaching up to 15W.
A top contender for sure
For the most part, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is going to be a fine phone, and will be able to hang with most of the flagships that have released this year. Sure, there are better phones out there, but Samsung manages to provide a package that is alluring in all the best ways. And with this recent price drop, it becomes an even more compelling option, and you’ll also get all the support you need if you’re located in the US.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra leaves the Note-like design behind for the very first time. With flat edges, curved corners, and a massive 6.9-inch display, this is a modern flagship through and through — and yes, that S Pen is still here too.
