Samsung is expanding its One UI 8 beta program to include its 2023 flagship devices: the Galaxy S23. The company has been publicly beta testing Android 16 for the Galaxy S24 and S25 for a few weeks now.

The YHB firmware for the Galaxy S23 Ultra is a hefty 3181MB download and brings the latest One UI skin and Android release to Samsung’s 2023 flagship (via @tarunvats33). It also includes the September 2025 security patch.

Samsung’s initial announcement in early August mentioned the program would also open for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. While their beta builds are yet to go live, this should change within the next few hours or days.

Besides Android 16, One UI 8 brings a redesigned Quick Share UI for easier and faster access to wireless file sharing. It also revamps many system apps, including Samsung Internet, Reminders, and more. It also improves the functionality of several first-party Samsung apps, like Samsung Health, Contacts, and Secure Folder.

If you own a Galaxy S23, use the Samsung Members app to enroll in the One UI 8 beta program. Then, navigate to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to download the YHB build.

Installing the One UI 8 firmware won’t touch your installed apps and their associated data. However, if you decide to leave the program midway and downgrade to One UI 7, your phone will be wiped clean of all data.

Samsung’s mid-rangers also join the One UI 8 beta bandwagon

Apart from the Galaxy S23, Samsung has also made the One UI 8 beta program live for three of its mid-rangers: the Galaxy A55, A54, and A35.

For now, the test Android 16 firmware for all Samsung devices is live in India, but it should expand to South Korea and limited European countries soon. In the US, only the unlocked Galaxy S23 units would be eligible to enroll into the beta.

Samsung will begin rolling out One UI 8 to the public with the Galaxy S25 series later this month, and then expand it to more Galaxy devices in October. Right now, only the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 run the stable build of One UI 8 out of the box.
