Summary

  • Samsung has seemingly halted the global One UI 7 rollout for the Galaxy S24 due to a major bug.
  • The stable firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 has also been pulled in Korea and Europe.
  • Samsung will likely release a revised build for the affected devices after resolving the bug.

Samsung commenced rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series in South Korea, Europe, and the US last week. The release came after months of testing and six beta builds. Given the lengthy testing, you’d expect the final firmware to be free of showstopping bugs. But that’s apparently not the case, with Samsung suspending One UI 7’s rollout globally after discovering a major bug in the stable release firmware.

Over the weekend, Samsung pulled the stable One UI 7 build for the Galaxy S24 from its servers. Renowned leaker @UniverseIce has provided more information on the setback, revealing that the company found a serious bug in the Galaxy S24’s One UI 7 firmware in Korea.

Due to this, it has suspended the update’s rollout and delayed One UI 7’s global release plans. It’s unclear what this critical bug is about, but it is bad enough to force Samsung to halt the already long-delayed push of One UI 7.

Alongside the Galaxy S24, Samsung has also halted the release of Android 15 for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 in Korea and Europe (via @tarunvats33).

If you’ve already installed the stable One UI 7 firmware on your Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, or Flip 6, Samsung will release an updated build for your device once the issue is resolved.

One UI 7 rollout for other Galaxy devices will likely get delayed too

Given how long Samsung has already taken to bring stable Android 15 to its flagship devices, we can only hope the company’s engineers quickly resolve the issue and resume the rollout without further delays.

Based on a timeline shared by Samsung Vietnam, the Galaxy S23, Fold 5, and Flip 5 should start receiving their stable One UI 7 build this week. With the rollout now paused for Samsung’s 2024 flagship Galaxy phones, the stable Android 15 update may not reach the company’s 2023 devices anytime soon.

The delay only adds to the frustration of Galaxy users, who’ve already been waiting over six months to experience Android 15 on their devices. And while One UI 7 delivers a significantly improved experience, the ongoing delays make the wait hard to justify.
