Samsung became the first non-Google Android maker to roll out the stable Android 16 update to its latest flagship phone — the Galaxy S25 series — earlier this week. The initial release was limited to South Korea and members of the beta program in selected countries. Three days later, Samsung is expanding One UI 8’s availability, pushing out the stable firmware for the Galaxy S25 to more countries.

The stable One UI 8 YI3 firmware, weighing in at 3.7GB and containing the September 2025 security patch, is now rolling out across Europe, India, Canada, the UK, Romania, and the Middle East (via @tarunvats33). Its availability should expand to more countries later today and over the coming days. The firmware isn’t live in the US just yet, but Galaxy S25 owners there should hopefully see the update arrive before the week is over.

Samsung announced the official rollout of One UI 8 earlier this week, on September 18, and said the update would reach the Galaxy S25 series this week. Galaxy S24, Z Fold 6, Flip 6, S24 FE, and other compatible devices will get their stable Android 16 update “later this year.”

If your Galaxy S25 is still running One UI 7, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install and check if the stable One UI 8 build is available for download. For carrier-locked devices, the wait will possibly be a bit longer due to extra testing and certifications.

Other Galaxy devices will have to wait for One UI 8

One UI 8 enhances the Now Bar with broader third-party app support and adds new features like Portrait Studio, Call Captions, and Interpreter Mode. It will also enhance the FlexWindow on Z Flip devices, bringing Gemini Live to the cover screen.

Samsung has already shared the official One UI 8 rollout schedule on its Korean forums. Based on its announcement, its flagship devices from the last few years, including the Galaxy S24, S23, S22, and Z Fold 6, Flip 6, will get their stable Android 16 update in October. It’s already running a One UI 8 beta program for many of these devices in selected countries.
