Samsung has been at the top of its game with its Android 16 rollout, pushing the stable One UI 8 build to all major flagship Galaxy devices in the last few weeks. You’d think the company might take a breather and skip the October security patch for the Galaxy S25 lineup. But that’s not the case, with the company already pushing the October firmware to both the S25 and S24 series.

As @tarunvats33 reports, the October security patch is live for the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S24 in Thailand. Typically, Samsung rolls out such updates first in its home market of South Korea, but this time, it seems to have pushed the firmware live in the Southeast Asian country first instead.

Samsung’s October security bulletin is already live, so you can find more information about all the patched vulnerabilities.

For the Galaxy S24, the CYJI firmware is a modest 455MB download. Since it’s rolling out only a few weeks after the stable One UI 8 update, don’t expect any major changes — this one’s likely just about security fixes and minor optimizations. The Galaxy S25’s BYIF firmware also weighs around 500MB, indicating it contains nothing more than fixes for known security lapses.

The October patch for the Galaxy S25 and S24 is rolling out nearly a week after Google released this month’s update for eligible Pixel phones.

It usually takes Samsung a few days to push an update to more countries. So, expect the Galaxy S25 and S24’s October patch to go live in your region later this week.

One UI 8.5 will be Galaxy S25’s next big update

Samsung is already hard at work on One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 and its older flagships. Leaks point to the update being a bigger deal than One UI 8 and packing major UI changes and other enhancements. More importantly, the skin will be based on Android 16 QPR2, making it the first time an Android skin is based on an Android Quarterly Platform Release.

Samsung could even commence the One UI 8.5 beta program before the end of this year for the Galaxy S25, with other Galaxy devices joining the program early next year.
