Samsung has been rapidly pushing One UI 8 to more of its devices. After updating the Galaxy S25 to Android 16 last week, it pushed the stable update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and S24 users on the beta channel in South Korea earlier this week. Now, the company is pushing the stable firmware to regular Galaxy S24 owners.
Samsung usually seeds the stable firmware to beta users first before a wider release. Since Galaxy S24 owners in the One UI 8 beta program haven’t flagged any major issues with the stable build, the company is now confident enough to expand the rollout to the general public. The first public Android 16 firmware for the Galaxy S24 weighs around 3.5GB and carries the September security patch.
Current reports (via @tarunvats33) indicate the YIC7 build is available for S24 owners in Australia, Vietnam, and parts of Europe, with beta members in the UK and Germany also getting the update. There’s no word on the US availability yet, but the rollout should commence in the next few days. Carrier variants will likely have to wait a few days longer due to additional testing and approvals.
You can download the One UI 8 firmware on your Galaxy phone from Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 should not be far behind, and their stable One UI 8 firmware will most likely get a wider release later today or within this week.
Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy joins the One UI 8 party as well
Alongside its flagship phones, Samsung is also rolling out the stable Android 16 build for the Galaxy A56 in Europe. The BYI5 firmware weighs nearly 2.5GB and contains the September security patch.
While many of the best AI-powered One UI 8 features won’t come to the A56, there should still be plenty of changes and enhancements. Plus, it’s commendable to see Samsung updating its mid-range phone to the latest Android release so quickly.
Other brands have not even updated their flagship phones to Android 16, and their mid-rangers will likely only get a taste of it in late 2025 or early 2026.
