The RootHide Procursus-based bootstrap for TrollStore-enabled iPhones and iPads running iOS & iPadOS 14.0-17.0 received an update on Friday that brings the tweak injecting utility for apps up to version 1.2.6 beta.
This build was announced via the project’s Discord channel early this morning, and from what we can gather, it incorporates the following changes:
– Fix the forkfix syscall bug that caused some devices to fail bootstrap/package installations
– Automatically fix broken roothidepatch files caused by old versions of Bootstrap
– Fix an issue that could cause the Bootstrap app to crash during bootstrapping
The RootHide bootstrap isn’t a jailbreak per-se, but it does allow for the injection of certain jailbreak tweaks directly into apps on devices that have TrollStore, effectively granting access to those jailbreak tweaks’ features when those apps are running.
What the RootHide bootstrap doesn’t do is allow systemwide tweak injection or SpringBoard modifications. You instead need a semi-jailbreak like Serotonin or a full-fledged jailbreak like Dopamine to be able to do things of that nature.
Since this is a beta release, it’s not technically recommended for all users, but it’s certainly available if you want to give it a try. The RootHide bootstrap version 1.2.6 beta can be had from the announcements part of the RootHide Discord server as a .tipa file that you can perma-sign with TrollStore.
