Rewritten Tako jailbreak tweak brings Priority Hub-style notifications to pwned devices on recent firmware

If you’re somebody who gets a lot of incoming notifications on a regular basis, then you might find it challenging to feel organized every time you glance at your cluttered Lock Screen.

Fortunately, jailbreak tweak developers like Xyaman and b4db1r3 are on the ball with Lock Screen notification-organizing jailbreak tweaks like Tako (iOS 15.x – 17.x), which brings the popular Priority Hub-like concept to the latest jailbroken versions of iOS & iPadOS.

Tako isn’t a new jailbreak tweak, but it is the latest iteration of the tweak. In a post shared to /r/jailbreak, the developer says that there was a lot of re-writing of code to make this iteration for newer versions of iOS possible.

As you can see for yourself in the screenshot examples above and below, Tako gives you an aesthetically pleasing and functional notification sorting interface that makes it easier to view the notifications that matter most to you before glancing at all the others.

Main features of Tako include:

  • Grouping notifications by app
  • Allowing users to customize styles
  • Adaptive colorization or use stock colors
  • Swipe gestures to remove notifications

Improvements to the re-written Tako for newer versions of iOS (15-17) include:

  • Fix main hook and remove unnecessary hooks
  • Add support for the rootless dynamic
  • Add option to change Y positioning on Lock Screen
  • Fix various views
  • Fix authentication issues
  • Fix issues with Music
  • Fix sloppy animations
  • Fix crashes on iOS 16
  • Update dependencies
  • And more…

Once installed, Tako adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where users can configure the tweak to their liking:

Thanks you can do here include:

  • Toggle Tako on or off on demand
  • Configure the main view:
    • Adjust the cell style
    • Adjust the Y position of the interface via a slider
    • Choose how to sort apps
    • Choose which notification to show at open
    • Enable or disable adaptive background
    • Enable or disable using the stock icon colors
    • Adjust the cell spacing via a slider
  • Configure the grouped view:
    • Enable or disable grouping on the Lock Screen
    • Enable or disable in Notification Center
    • Hide notification groups when authenticated via biometrics or passcode
    • Enable or disable round icons
    • Adjust the maximum number of icons
    • Adjust the icon sizes via a slider
    • Adjust the icon spacing via a slider
    • Enable grouping when playing music
    • Adjust the Y axis both for the Lock Screen and Notification Center
  • Enable or disable haptic feedback

I’ve always liked these kinds of jailbreak tweaks, so you might call me partial to the concept. I’m appreciative that developers continue to maintain it with each jailbreak iteration, and with that in mind, I recommend it to anyone who receives lots of notifications.
