iOS automatically regulates RAM usage to prevent apps or the operating system itself from bogging down, but that has never stopped jailbreakers from wanting to view their device’s free RAM remainder in a convenient manner.
Jailbreakers who are using modern version(s) of iOS on iPhones also enjoy this functionality with a new and free jailbreak tweak called RAMUnderTime by iOS developer Ginsu.
RAMUnderTime displays the amount of free RAM your device has left just underneath the Status Bar’s time display. Like most RAM indicators, this one updates in real-time to help the user identify when a particular process seems to be memory heavy.
In the screenshot example above, you can see that our iPhone X has 350MB of free RAM remaining. Obviously, this doesn’t mean that our iPhone X has 350MB of RAM; it just means that 2.65GB of the device’s 3GB RAM allotment is being used by the operating system and backgrounded apps and that there is 350MB remaining.
RAMUnderTime doesn’t come with any options to configure as it’s a relatively simple tweak right out of the box. If you’re ever concerned that an app or process might be eating too much of your handset’s memory allotment, then this is a good tweak for trying to validate your concerns.
If you’re interested in giving RAMUnderTime a try, then you can download the tweak for free from Ginsu’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 & 14 iPhones and is open source on the developer’s GitHub page.
