When it comes to the kfd exploit that everyone’s been ranting and raving about lately, two major players seem to come in to mind: 1) the Misaka package manager; and 2) the Picasso all-in-one system customization app.
But just this week, yet another utility called PureKFD by iOS developer Lrdsnow came to fruition, and according to the GitHub page’s description, this project strives to be a kfd and MacDirtyCow exploit-based manager app that can be perma-signed with TrollStore or sideloaded with apps like AltStore or Sideloadly for managing all your Misaka and Picasso tweaks and add-ons.
As you can see in the screenshot examples above, PureKFD supports basic apply & respring functions that you can use after installing add-ons. You can also browse known repositories, add new ones if they’re not already there by default, and search for and manage packages. It’s a lot like Misaka in many ways, just with a different look.
From what we can gather, the PureKFD app offers full support for Picasso packages so far, with only rudimentary support for Misaka packages, but that’s set to change in the future as the project matures. What’s more is that while PureKFD currently only supports the kfd exploit, there are plans to add MacDirtyCow support in the future.
As the PureKFD project is only intended for MacDirtyCow and kfd exploit-vulnerable devices, this means that it will only be effective on all devices running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2 or arm64e devices running iOS or iPadOS 16.0-16.5 (or 16.6 beta 1).
PureKFD has only been out for a few days, and it has already reached version 3.0 at the time of this writing. The initial release was just three days ago, with version 2.0 launching just yesterday. Citing the change log, PureKFD v2.0 introduced the following changes:
– Rudimentary Misaka package support
– Added option to switch what type of respring
– Added FixDynamicIsland
– Added remove for Hide Home Bar from Picasso’s beta repo
– Improved search
– Added more Misaka repositories
– Improved image loading
The newer PureKFD v3.0, which launched just today, introduced the following additional changes over the initial release:
– Added 15.0-15.7.1 & 16.0-16.1.2 Support via MacDirtyCow (PureKFD will automatically set the Exploit)
– Added Logs
– Shows Supported Versions but doesn’t enforce them (For Misaka Packages)
– Added Screenshots (For Misaka Packages)
– Finally Fixed & Tested Remove Dynamic Island
– Bug fixes
