Google’s Pixel 10 smartphones aren’t winning awards for bold design changes or massive hardware leaps, but if you’ve been paying attention, you know that’s not really the story this year. As the Made by Google 2025 event showed, Google’s software progress is where things get interesting, and the Pixel 10’s Magic Cue is the star of the show. Its newest trick is to provide personalized weather reports inside the Pixel Weather app, as noted by Android Authority.
One more tool in the Pixel toolbox
A small but novel upgrade
Instead of just displaying the forecast for your city, Magic Cue can pull data from your Google account to deliver context-aware insights. When you’re planning a trip, it can suggest forecasts for your destination and offer packing tips based on the expected conditions. If you have a birthday picnic on your calendar, you’ll see weather updates tied to it so you can adjust plans if rain is on the way.
You’ll need to do more than just open the Weather app to get started, though. After making sure Magic Cue is enabled in the settings first, you’ll then have to manually save suggested locations tied to upcoming events. Once that’s done, you’ll start seeing “AI Weather Report” cards with tailored details.
Unfortunately, there are caveats. The feature only works for events happening within the next 10 days, and only if you’re in the US or Japan. Strangely, Google hasn’t mentioned support for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, despite the device also running Magic Cue.
Adding a polished touch with AI
This new weather feature shows exactly why Magic Cue is interesting. AI on smartphones has too often felt like a gimmick — something you had to summon with the right prompt or phrase. Magic Cue, on the other hand, steps in quietly, providing the right context when it’s needed. It’s not trying to replace your planning skills; it’s just making them sharper.
But the limits do sting, even if they’re a little predictable. No support outside those two countries, no long-range planning (yet, at least), and no clear timeline for expansion temper the feature’s novelty a little. If you’re already invested in the Pixel ecosystem and live in the right place, though, it’s a glimpse of what AI-enhanced utilities could look like as they get more comprehensive. For everyone else, it’s another case of waiting for Google to roll features out more broadly, while Pixel owners get the first look at the cleverest improvements.
