Adobe Photoshop is among the few image-editing tools that simply need no introduction. If you’ve ever wanted to quickly edit an image before posting it on social media and couldn’t boot up your laptop at the time, you’ve likely searched for Photoshop Mobile on the Play Store, only to realize Photoshop proper has been primarily limited to desktops.
Adobe finally launched Photoshop for smartphones in February 2025, but like many companies, Adobe rolled out an iPhone version before Android.
That’s finally changing today, and though the Android version of Photoshop is currently only available in beta, the company is making up for it by offering all of its premium features free during this limited time.
Adobe Photoshop is finally coming to Android with all features free during beta
As announced via a post on Adobe Newsroom, the Photoshop on Android app is available for most popular Android smartphones starting today in beta. The beta app is available and free to download on the Google Play Store for devices running Android 11 or later, with a minimum of 6GB of RAM.
Though Photoshop finally coming to Android is good news on its own, Adobe’s really sweetening the deal by making all the app’s features free during this initial beta period. This includes core Photoshop tools like selections, layers, and masks.
Making selections on a mobile phone can be fiddly, especially compared to the precision and ease of using a desktop. Thankfully, Adobe thought that through and launched a Photoshop Mobile-exclusive feature called Tap Select that lets you quickly remove, recolor, or replace parts of an image with a tap within seconds. When Adobe announced Photoshop on iPhone, it locked more precise selection tools like Object Select behind the paid tier. However, on Android, this feature is available for free during the beta period.
Additionally, users will get access to the Spot Healing Brush tool, which is the perfect way to quickly remove any unwanted blemishes, spots, or imperfections from their photos. Of course, no company in 2025 would push out a new app without sprinkling in a bit of AI tools. Photoshop Mobile is equipped with multiple tools powered by its AI model, Firefly, including Generative Fill that lets you quickly add new elements to an image.
Though this beta period likely won’t last long and Adobe will go back to its usual model of locking premium features behind a subscription, for now, having full access for free is better than nothing.
