Philips Hue is stepping up its smart home lineup with a new hub, improved bulbs, and more outdoor lighting options, plus a budget-friendly line to pull in first-time smart lighting users.
The new Hue Bridge Pro is the centerpiece of this year’s releases. It’s built on a new chip that Signify says enables AI-driven features and more complex automation. One of the headline functions is MotionAware, which allows compatible lights to act as motion sensors.
The new hub expands network capacity, allowing for up to 150 lights and 50 accessories on a single network. Powered by the new Hue Chip Pro, the device features 15 times more memory and can store up to 500 unique scenes. Current Bridge users can upgrade to the Pro model in just a few taps through the app. It’s priced at $99 or €90.
Smarter bulbs and affordable Essentials
Meanwhile, the standard Hue smart bulb has been refreshed for 2025 with improved color accuracy thanks to Chromasync tech and a wider white spectrum. The company says the Hue smart bulb (2025) is engineered to bring the feel of natural daylight into your home. It features Chromasync precision color-matching and full-spectrum white light. You can fine-tune the color or white tone and dim the light all the way down to 0.2% brightness. The price of these bulbs ranges from $16 to $80.
For the outdoors, Hue is introducing two types of string lights. The Hue Festavia Globe is a string of shatterproof globe bulbs perfect for patios or porches. They can create a gradient of color or play animated light effects and are priced from $130 or €130. For year-round decoration, the Hue Festavia Permanent string lights are IP65 weatherproof and can be installed under eaves or along rooflines. This 150-foot string costs $300.
Perhaps the most interesting announcement is Hue Essential, a new product line designed to offer Hue functionality at a lower price. These bulbs have a slightly narrower white spectrum, aren’t as bright, and don’t dim quite as deeply as the premium models. That said, they’re significantly cheaper.
A single color bulb costs $25, and a 4-pack is priced at $60. Later in December 2025, the Essential family will grow to include two light strips: a standard model starting at $59.99 and a flexible version (likely based on the existing Gradient Lightstrip) starting at $100.
Hue Secure Video Doorbell
The Hue Video Doorbell enters the competitive smart doorbell space with 2K video using Starlight low-light tech, two-way audio, and (unsurprisingly) deep integration with Hue lighting. When someone rings the bell, your lights can react, and notifications are sent in real time, as per the brand’s press release. A smart chime is also included. The price starts at $170 or €170.
Additionally, the standard Hue Secure cameras are getting a hardware update to 2K resolution later this year. A significant new feature for both wired and standard cameras is free video recording of the last 24 hours, which previously required a subscription. Wired cameras will also be able to connect to Apple Home.
