You probably already know that Pebble is making a comeback, with the Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2 being announced back in March, and set to make their retail debuts in the coming months. Since then, the devices have been slowly taking shape, with the brand smoothing out all the small wrinkles in order to ensure a smooth and successful launch.

There aren’t any firm release dates for these products, but the Pebble 2 Duo should be reaching the hands of those who preordered it relatively soon. But before that, Eric Migicovsky, the one who was responsible for the original Pebble, and the rebirth of the new ones, is chiming in to share news of the new Pebble app store (via Android Authority).

It’s becoming a reality

Well, it’s not quite all new, but it’s getting some love in a new post, because some things have changed, and new things will continue to be added as time passes. While new Pebble watch owners will have to wait, those that have an older Pebble watch can already dive into the app store to gain access to thousands of apps.

The app store currently houses a bunch of older apps, and also some new ones. There’s no doubt that this library will grow larger as more time passes. If you’re a developer that’s looking to submit their own ideas, you can now do so. But perhaps the best news is that there won’t be any cost associated with the app store just like before.

And about those changes mentioned earlier, well, the team at Pebble has added the ability to share link previews to favorite apps using your favorite messaging apps and social media channels. The new app store will also have a section that will recommend similar apps to the ones you’re browsing in order to keep lesser-known options in front of curious eyes.

Again, nothing major at this point, but I imagine that the focus is more on getting the hardware out. In addition, Migicovsky even drops a link to a new Pebble app for iOS and Android, just in case you want to give it a try. For the most part, this is a pretty crucial update, giving us a look at the “bones” of the structure that will keep Pebble alive in the long run.

We’ve seen it time and time again, but hardware will only take you so far. It’s the software experience that really matters most. Those that preordered Pebble 2 Duo should expect to hear from the brand shortly, as shipments are set to go out soon. Those that preordered the Pebble Time 2 will have to wait just a little longer. Initial estimates set December 2025 as the target, but it appears that the time frame might have slipped into the new year.
