The palera1n team released an updated version of the palera1n-c jailbreak tool Wednesday afternoon, officially bringing the tool up to version 2.0.0 beta 5, code named Tumbleweed.
Today’s update brings a lengthy list of changes that existing palera1n-c users are going to want to pay attention to, such as:
– Removing the palera1n droplet from the title in the palera1n loader app
– Adding a Userspace reboot option to the palera1n loader app
– Added social links to the credits in the palera1n loader app
– Make the terminal window display your jbtype
– Changed the content view gradient to be animated
– Added debug options that can be accessed by triple-tapping on titles in the loader app’s settings
– Palera1n app colors now differ depending on your version of iOS or iPadOS
– When you aren’t jailbroken, the palera1n loader app won’t show any options besides install and open TrollHelper
– The palera1n loader app will no longer show an option to install other package manager apps
– Patch DYLD
– Update tools and SSH server in the built-in binpack
– Kernel patchfinder no longer crashes on iOS or iPadOS 16.4
– Changed format or version string in CLI
– CLI credits now go into standard error instead of standard output
– Added flag to stop colors in CLI
– Improved documentation regarding the fakefs flag
From what we can gather, the palera1n jailbreak still does not officially support iOS or iPadOS 16.4. That said, it continues to be a jailbreak only for A9-A11 chip-equipped handsets running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-16.3.1.
If you’re an existing user of the palera1n-c jailbreak, then you can download the latest version of the jailbreak tool from the team’s official Palera.in
website. Users of the legacy palera1n jailbreak should move to the newer palera1n-c jailbreak, as the legacy tool is now considered deprecated.
Anyone who hasn’t already used palera1n-c before can follow the steps outlined in our step-by-step tutorial to get started. The C re-write of palera1n-c makes the jailbreaking process easier and more straightforward than the original, so it’s beneficial for everyone to make the switch.
