Even though January is still a few months away, whispers about the potential devices we’ll see being unveiled during the month are all but contained. South Korean tech giant, Samsung, will release its highly-anticipated S26 series late in the month or potentially early in the next, bringing a revamped lineup that reportedly forgoes the base and plus models in favor of a Pro and Edge S26, respectively.

Early next year, we’re also expecting OnePlus’ next flagship to grace the big stage, though instead of being called the OnePlus 14, the Chinese smartphone-maker is opting to call the device the OnePlus 15, owing to the number 4, and in turn the number 14, being considered unlucky.

Elsewhere, from what we already know about the upcoming flagship coming out of Shenzhen, OnePlus could adorn the device with a new square camera module which could be somewhat similar to the OnePlus 13s, albeit with three 50-megapixel cameras. On the front, the device will reportedly offer a refresh rate upgrade, going from 120Hz on the OnePlus 13 to 165Hz on the OnePlus 15.

Both of those tidbits came from reliable Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, who’s now back with more information about the upcoming OnePlus flagship (via Android Authority).

The OnePlus advantage

For reference, some of the best Android flagships out there, including the likes of the Galaxy S25 and even the recent Google Pixel 10, still offer 128GB as the base storage. The same goes for Google’s higher-end Google Pixel 10 Pro. OnePlus, on the other hand, has offered 256GB as the base storage for its flagships for the last two generations, and even last year’s cheaper mid-range option, the OnePlus 12R, boasts 256GB minimum storage.

OnePlus wasn’t going to change that this time around, and Digital Chat Station has confirmed just that. According to the tipster, the flagship would be available in five different storage and RAM variants, including 12GB/256GB, 16GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB options.

Elsewhere, the Chinese smartphone maker appears to be opting for stronger hues this time around. Black Eclipse, Arctic Dawn, and Midnight Ocean were the colors that made their way to the OnePlus 13. The OnePlus 15, on the other hand, will retain Artic Dawn’s white/silver look, and Black Eclipse’s dark hue. Midnight Ocean, however, will be replaced with a purple colorway. Check out what these colors might look like in the concept image below.

The OnePlus 13 launched for $900. We’re expecting the upcoming flagship to be priced similarly, though we’d suggest waiting for more concrete pricing information once we’re closer to the device’s eventual release date.
