In a forum post on its community, OnePlus announced the release of Android 16 Beta 2 for its current flagship. While this is the second beta, it is the first public build of the OS that OnePlus has seeded for testing for the OnePlus 13. Living up to its beta tag, the build has several issues, which is why OnePlus recommends only developers and advanced users install it. This includes a blurry camera viewfinder, lag on the lock screen, random restarts when answering calls through a Bluetooth headset, and more.

No wonder OnePlus wants you to avoid installing the ROM if you use the phone as your daily driver.

You can find the full list of issues below:

Known Issues

  • Unable to close the version update pop-up after upgrading to the DPP version.
  • Font weight settings cannot be adjusted.
  • Device may restart when answering a call using Bluetooth headsets.
  • Lag and display errors in the camera viewfinder and thumbnail in certain scenarios.
  • Blurry or unclear camera viewfinder in some cases.
  • Camera crashes when switching to Macro mode with the rear camera.
  • Crashes and lag after enabling Ultra Steady mode.
  • Display error in the camera viewfinder during video recording in specific scenarios.
  • Screen may freeze when tapping the accessibility shortcut button on the home screen.
  • Lag observed when locking the screen.

Backup your data before proceeding

The current build is only compatible with unlocked OnePlus 13 units and won’t work for carrier devices purchased from Verizon and T-Mobile. Installation instructions will differ based on whether you have the Indian, Global, or North American variant. Before you proceed, ensure your OnePlus device is running software version v15.0.0.703. If it’s on a newer version, you must downgrade to this build first.

Also, installing the ROM will wipe the phone clean, erasing all your installed apps and their associated data. You can always roll back to an OxygenOS build, but again, it will erase all data on the phone.

Keep in mind, this is a stock build of Android 16, without the usual OxygenOS enhancements you’d typically find on a OnePlus device. As a result, the experience will be quite different from what you’re used to. Many key Android 16 features might also be missing or not working properly as intended.
