Camera Assistant is one of the most powerful Good Lock modules for Samsung phones, enabling several advanced camera features and options. With One UI 8.5 in beta testing, Samsung has updated Camera Assistant to not only support the skin but also add several powerful new features, including one that tackles a major pain point with the Galaxy phone cameras.
Despite packing a versatile array of camera sensors, Samsung’s flagship phones are not good at capturing motion. Trying to click a picture of a pet or a child will almost always lead to the image coming out blurry in less-than-ideal lighting. This is partly due to Samsung’s image processing pipeline and the camera not using a fast enough shutter speed to freeze motion.
The latest Camera Assistant aims to solve this problem with Advanced Photo mode controls. It adds some Pro controls to the Galaxy Camera’s regular photo mode, including the ability to tweak the white balance and exposure. More importantly, it contains an option to set the minimum shutter speed and maximum ISO.
By raising the minimum shutter speed, you can force the camera to prioritize freezing motion. This will help reduce blur that typically appears when trying to capture moving subjects with a Galaxy phone.
While the minimum shutter speed can be set as low as 1/30, the Max ISO is weirdly limited to 400.
If you shoot in Pro mode, Focus Peaking gets a major upgrade. It can now always be visible, and you can customize its colors and line thickness as per your requirement.
The latest Camera Assistant release (v4.5.00.13) also brings back the Single Take and Dual Recording modes, just as the company promised. They were previously a part of the One UI camera app but are missing from the One UI 8.5 beta release.
Create and share preset Pro camera modes
Other changes included in the latest Camera Assistant build include the ability to turn OIS off when recording videos, customizable indicators in photo and video modes. You can also have separate indicators for each mode.
The last notable new feature is Pro Mode presets, which you can create from your current settings or from photo settings.
The latest Camera Assistant release is only compatible with the Galaxy S25 series running One UI 8.5. You must also be a part of the app’s beta program to grab the latest release. Alternatively, you can manually sideload the APK.
