Samsung has started rolling out the stable Android 16-based One UI 8 update to its latest flagships, with the Galaxy S25 getting it last week and 2024’s foldables joining in this week. But the spotlight is already shifting to what’s next. Recent leaks indicate Samsung may take some Liquid Glass inspiration for One UI 8.5, and now, another leak details the new Galaxy AI features set to debut with the update.
A screenshot shared on X by @nirmalsri7 allegedly shows the Galaxy AI settings page in One UI 8.5 (via @SamMobile). Besides existing features like Call assist, Writing assist, and Transcript assist, it lists several new options, such as Meeting assist, Touch assistant, Smart clipboard, Social composer, and Photo assist.
Meeting Assist will supposedly offer real-time translations during meetings and presentations, with support for platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, and others. Smart Clipboard will use AI to analyze the copied content and automatically suggest actions such as adding it to favorites, translating text, correcting grammar, and more.
Social composer sounds like another handy AI feature, generating posts for social media based on the uploaded image. You can also use the AI feature to generate reviews for items purchased on e-commerce websites.
Touch Assistant will help “improve your reading efficiency by processing the text shown on the screen.”
Most of these Galaxy AI features, including Social Composer and Touch Assistant, are not new. Samsung has already been offering them to users in China as part of Galaxy AI since early this year. However, it seems the company could expand the availability of at least some of them internationally as part of One UI 8.5.
One UI 8.5 looks set to focus on polish and refinements
Beyond the Liquid Glass–style tweaks, One UI 8.5 could reintroduce a few features Samsung previously removed. This includes pollen tracking in the Samsung Weather app, NFC-based Quick Share file transfers, and automatic call screening.
While leaks surrounding One UI 8.5 have picked up pace, Samsung’s next major Android skin will only debut alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup in early 2026. It should then make its way to older devices in the following months.
