MusicLyricsShare lets jailbreakers tap and hold on Apple Music lyrics to share them

There are two types of people in this world: 1) those who listen to music because it sounds good; and 2) those who listen to music to hear and follow along with the lyrics. If the latter camp sounds like you, then chances are you might have a sudden urge to share said music lyrics from time to time.

MusicLyricsShare is a newly released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer ETHN that streamlines this process in Apple’s Music app by letting users tap and hold on the individual lyric blocks that appear when a song streams via Apple Music.

Upon performing the gesture mentioned above, a share sheet much like the one shown in the screenshot example below materializes, delivering all of the sharing avenues that you’d come to expect from a traditional share sheet elsewhere in iOS or iPadOS:

The iOS share sheet is customizable right out of the box, but some of the default options include:

  • Sharing via AirDrop
  • Sharing via text message or iMessage
  • Sharing via email
  • Adding to your Notes app
  • Copying to your clipboard
  • Saving to Files
  • Saving to Filza (if installed)
  • And much more…

It’s worth noting that a similar feature already exists in iOS & iPadOS 14.5, however the tweak is intended for older versions of iOS & iPadOS only — namely those that are jailbreakable on all devices.

We should also mention that the lyrics are shared in plain text, so the bold and large text formatting seen from the Apple Music app doesn’t follow when you share the lyrics somewhere else. Furthermore, the MusicLyricShare tweak doesn’t come with any options to configure, so what you see is what you get.

Those interested in giving the new MusicLyricShare tweak a try can download it for free from ETHN’s personal repository via their favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 and 14 devices and is open source on the developer’s GitHub page. If you aren’t already using ETHN’s repository, then you can use the following URL to add it to your package manager:

Do you plan to give the MusicLyricShare tweak a try, or are you less concerned with the lyrics as you are with the actual music? Let us know your position in the comments section down below.
