Motorola has announced three new smartphones, and wider availability for its Swarovski-encrusted Brilliant Collection devices, at IFA 2025, the technology trade show currently underway in Berlin, Germany. Two of them are ideal for bargain hunters, and the third follows one of Motorola’s best mid-range phones in a while.
Motorola Edge 60 Neo
The sequel to the excellent Edge 50 Neo, the Edge 60 Neo doesn’t dramatically push the design forward, but it didn’t really need to do much to still be a desirable phone, mostly due to Motorola’s partnership with color experts Pantone. There are several great color options here.
Pantone Grisaille (a blue-grey) makes a return, along with Pantone Frostbite (the minty blue) and Pantone Poinciana (an orange red), plus a fourth creamy beige color completes the range, and all look excellent.
Slim at 8.09mm thick, light at 174 grams, and durable with both a MIL-STD-810H toughness certification and both IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, the Edge 60 Neo is ready for anything. Inside is a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage space.
The screen is a 6.36-inch pOLED with an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, 3000 nits peak brightness, and HDR10+. A 5,000mAh battery delivers the power, and it is recharged at 68W using a cable, or wirelessly at 15W.
For the camera, Motorola has added a 50-megapixel main, a 13MP wide-angle camera, and a 100MP telephoto with a 3x optical zoom. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera. All this adds up to a series of welcome hardware upgrades over the Edge 50 Neo, but it’s a shame to see Android 15 is installed out of the box. Android Police contacted Motorola for information on its software update commitment, and received the following information.
While the Motorola Edge 60 Neo will launch on Android 15, it will receive an OS upgrade to Android 16. The Motorola Edge 60 Neo will have four OS upgrades and +5 years of security maintenance releases.
Considering the phone’s mid-range status, and Motorola’s poor update commitments of the past, this is good news. Motorola’s release strategy is often confusing, and while the Edge 60 Neo is unlikely to reach the U.S., a device much like it will likely be released under a different name in the future, although this has not been officially confirmed. The Edge 60 Neo will be released in parts of Europe, Asia, Latin America and other global regions.
Moto G06 and Moto G06 Power
Motorola’s two new bargain smartphones are the Moto G06 and Moto G06 Power, which share similar specifications with a few key differences between them. However, it’s the price which will make you take a second glance, as the Moto G06 is £70 (about $95) and the G06 Power is £90 (about $121).
Both phones have the same 6.88-inch HD+ resolution LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a MediaTek Helio G81 processor with 4GB or 8GB of RAM. The pair also share the same camera system, with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera at the top of the screen.
The primary technical difference between the two is the battery. The Moto G06 has a 5,200mAh battery with 10W wired charging, while the G06 Power has a 7,000mAh battery with 18W wired charging. Motorola says the G06 Power’s battery will last up to two-and-a-half days on a single charge.
While the design is essentially the same, the available colors are different. The Moto G06 comes in four different colors: Pantone Laurel Oak, Pantone Arabesque, Pantone Tapestry, and Pantone Tendril. The Moto G06 Power misses out on Pantone Arabesque. The larger battery means the G06 Power weighs more at 220 grams, compared to the Moto G06’s 194 grams, and is also a hair thicker.
Motorola also informed Android Police about the software update commitment for the G06 models, stating:
Both devices will launch with Android 15. They will not receive an Android OS upgrade but will receive 2 years of bi-monthly security updates from initial launch.
While it’s not what most would want to see, it’s understandable considering the low cost of these two phones. The G06 range will launch in parts of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other regions, but the U.S. has not been included at this time. In the U.K. both Moto G06 phones will be released on October 15.
Brilliant Collection
Finally, Motorola has also confirmed the recently announced Brilliant Collection will be released in the U.K. in the near future. The set consists of a Motorola Razr 60 (known as the Motorola Razr 2025 in the U.S.) and a set of Moto Buds Loop with Swaorvski crystal details and a special Pantone Ice Melt finish. The set will cost £900 and will be released on September 5.
