iOS developers @Little_34306 and @straight_tamago have pushed a new update for their SparseRestore-based MisakaX iPhone and iPad customization utility, which harnesses an exploit in device backups to make these changes possible.
The latest update, dubbed version 2.0, was announced in a post shared to X (formerly Twitter) early Tuesday morning, and appears to introduce the following changes:
- Support for iOS 18 RC
- Add Dynamic Island features for iPhone 16 Pro & 16 Pro Max on iOS 18.0 RC
- Add Always-on Display vibrancy with auto-off screen on unsupported devices on iOS 18.0 RC
- Add Camera Control features on iOS 18.0 RC
- And more…
If you’re interested in trying the latest version of MisakaX, then you can head over to the project’s GitHub page and download the proper file for your operating system, whether that’s macOS or Windows.
Please note that making these kinds of modifications does come with a small risk of device instability, which can result in boot loops. That said, it’s highly recommended to refrain from using this tool on your daily driver unless you know what you’re doing and you should back up all your data before using it.
MisakaX can be used to make all kinds of jailbreak tweak-like modifications on iOS & iPadOS 17.0-18.0 RC. You don’t need a jailbreak to use it, but you will need iTunes if you’re using a Windows PC.
The SparseRestore exploit utilized by MisakaX is the same one used by TrollRestore to install TrollStore on compatible devices, including those running iOS & iPadOS 17.0.
