Misaka package manager for MacDirtyCow devices updated to v1.8.8 beta with more improvements

The Misaka package manager app for MacDirtyCow-vulnerable devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2 was updated late Tuesday night to version 1.8.8 beta, bringing with it another small handful of improvements for end users.

The announcement, shared via the Misaka Discord server, reveals that Misaka version 1.8.8 beta brings the following changes:

– Navigating from the Packages page to the Repositories page is now possible (new install only)
– Fix a crash when attempting to open a tweak’s settings page
– Add a new icon by @iwishkem

If you’re an existing Misaka user, then you’ll be promoted to install the latest update before you can continue using the app. The prompt looks something like this:

Misaka prompts the user to update.Misaka prompts the user to update.

Upon tapping the OK button, you’re driven to the Misaka Discord page where you will find an updated .ipa link so that you can perma-sign it with TrollStore or sideload it with a utility such as AltStore or Sideloadly.

Anyone who isn’t already taking advantage of Misaka, and has a MacDirtyCow-vulnerable device (namely, a device running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2) should consider giving it a try. It’s a centralized place to find and install all of the best add-ons that work with this exploit and to give you an experience similar to that of jailbreaking without actually being jailbroken.

Notably, Misaka works on devices whether they’re jailbroken or not, so even if you’re already happily jailbroken, you can still use Misaka alongside your existing package manager apps and jailbreak tweaks.
