Renowned security researcher Luca Todesco (@qwertyoruiop) is best known for his iOS 10-centric Yalu jailbreak tool. But Todesco flexed his hacking muscles once again over the weekend upon confirming how he successfully jailbroke Appleās flagship iPhone XS Max.
The confirmation comes by way of a set of Tweets shared on the Twitter social media platform, which indicate that while Todesco has finished āhacking the XS Max,ā heās since returned to a stock installation of iOS.
Todesco appears to be somewhat impressed with the iPhone XS Max; above, we see him raving about how itās a ādamn fine piece of hardware.ā
Albeit not the first time weāve witnessed hackers cracking the latest security mechanisms present in Appleās brand-new A12 Bionic chip architecture, itās impressive nevertheless to see the high volume of hackers that have managed their way around Appleās latest handsets.
To date, weāve seen examples from the prominent Pangu jailbreak team and from the KeenLab security research firm. Panguās jailbreak demo focused primarily on the iPhone XSā A12 Bionic hardware, while KeenLabās jailbreak demo encompassed the iOS 12 firmware on older iPhone X-centric hardware.ā
Itās terrific news to see the jailbreakability of Appleās latest hardware/software combinations first-hand, but everything remains a proof of concept. That said, we donāt expect to see any of the aforementioned jailbreak methods getting released to the public, and that includes Todescoās.
Fortunately, security researcher Ian Beer is notorious for dropping exploits that are later picked up by jailbreak teams in the community, and heās shifting his focus to iOS 12. With a little luck, perhaps weāll see an iOS 12 jailbreak in the future.
