Google has been on quite the journey over the past few years, refining its phones to seriously compete with industry juggernauts like Samsung and Apple. With the Pixel 9 series, the brand was able to accomplish this, introducing a set of phones that really impressed, with fantastic hardware and software, becoming some of the best phones you can buy.
Perhaps the most interesting part was that the base model was so good, that it really made you question whether a Pro model was necessary. With the upcoming Pixel 10, it looks like Google will have to once again make some tough decisions, and if newly leaked information can be relied on, it appears that the base model will omit quite a few features.
But maybe all the features won’t be necessary
The news comes from Android Headlines, sharing upcoming details about the Pixel 10, giving us important insight into what to expect with the upcoming phones. The news outlet highlights how the upcoming Pixel 10 won’t include a vapor chamber cooling system, which actually might not be as big of an issue since the phone will reportedly switch to chips produced by TSMC.
In addition, it appears that the Pixel 10 may not arrive with Wi-Fi 7 on board, and while it will arrive with a telephoto lens in tow, it won’t have support for the brand’s ‘Ultra Res Zoom’ which is an enhanced version of Google’s ‘Super Res Zoom’. Furthermore, the news outlet also highlights how ‘ultra-stable’ video recording won’t be available as well.
While it’s disappointing to see, the Pixel 10 will most likely be a fine phone even with these notable omissions. And if you’re looking to get more out of your phone, that’s why the Pro series exists. Of course, we’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out, but we won’t have to wait long as the phones are set to launch sometime in the next couple of months.
Of course, before that, we’re also going to see new foldable phones from Samsung, which should make this summer quite exciting. Check back as we cover more about the upcoming Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro.
