Google officially states that the Pixel Stand (2nd gen) is not compatible with the Pixel 10 lineup. Still, many users discovered that it did work, albeit the charging speed was relatively slow. With the December 2025 update, Google appears to have removed this functionality entirely.
Several Pixel 10 users on Reddit report that they can no longer charge their device using the Pixel Stand (2nd gen) after installing the Android 16 QPR2 (December) update. The Pixel Stand’s indicator flashes an orange light when the phone is placed on it, indicating an alignment or compatibility issue (via Piunika Web).
This was not the case previously, as the charger worked with the phone despite the lack of official support.
The issue seems limited to the Pixel 10 family, with Pixel 9 and older device owners not reporting any such problem. This suggests that Google may have intentionally pulled the plug on this unofficial compatibility.
Google’s support page clearly mentions that the Pixel Stand does not work with the Pixel 10 family. But before this update, Pixel 10 users could charge their phones slowly with the charger, albeit with only selected covers. Without a case, the phone could be topped up at 7.5W speeds as long as there were no alignment issue.
Google’s decision could be linked to the Pixel 10 not playing well with older Qi chargers. Users reported their phones getting hot and charging at an unusably slow pace (7.5W or less). Rather than delivering a poor user experience, it appears the company decided to make some changes and drop support for such chargers, including the Pixel Stand (2nd gen), altogether.
Pixel Stand is now an expensive paperweight
It’s disappointing to see Google drop even the unofficial Pixel Stand support for the Pixel 10. Released in December 2021 for a steep $79, the charger already felt overpriced, especially given its limited benefits. Now, with Google effectively rendering it useless for Pixel 10 owners, it has become an expensive paperweight for most.
While Pixelsnap chargers deliver a far better experience on the Pixel 10, that’s still no reason for Google to kill even unofficial Pixel Stand support on its newest phones.
