Kleidaria puts your iPhone to sleep when you set it face-down

Putting your iPhone to sleep when you’re finished using it is one of the most important things you can do to conserve battery life, and yet I always witness folks around me forgetting to take this simple step before placing their unlocked handset down somewhere. Perhaps they just need a little help remembering to put their iPhone to sleep, or maybe they need a jailbreak tweak that can do it for them?

Enter Kleidaria, a newly released and free add-on iOS developer gilshahar7 that automatically puts your iPhone to sleep after you place it face-down on a flat surface, such as a tabletop.

Kleidaria uses the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer and gyroscope hardware to discern when the handset is face-down as opposed to face-up. This method is battery-efficient and appears to work with a high rate of consistency while avoiding false positives.

As you might come to expect, Kleidaria comes with the prerequisite of placing your handset face-down, which is something you might need to get accustomed to if you normally place your handset face-up instead. Obviously, if you do the latter, then Kleidaria won’t help you out in any way, and you’ll be relying solely on iOS’ auto lock timer instead (hopefully you haven’t set it to ‘Never’).

In addition to preventing forgetful failures to lock an iPhone, Kleidaria offers both a new and exciting way to lock your device, as well as an alternative option if your sleep/wake button has stopped working.

Kleidaria doesn’t have any options to configure, and from our testing, we’ve found that the tweak’s stock settings are dialed in just right. There’s about a one-second delay before the handset locks once placed face-down on the table, but that can be considered a good thing in my opinion since it prevents fumbled iPhones from being registered as a face-down device.

If you’re interested in trying Kleidaria for yourself, then you can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository via your favorite package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices.

Do you ever place your iPhone face-down and forget to lock it first? Let us know in the comments section below.
