Join Me for Office Hours, Online Learning, and Conversation

After some internal conversations last week, the rest of the SentryOne team and I decided to kick it up a notch with more knowledge sharing and more opportunities for conversation and fellowship. With all the stress of the global pandemic, I look forward to a bit of extra carousing and kibitzing with y’all!

Announcing Monthly Open Office Hours

Our first new activity is a regularly scheduled live GoToMeeting session that we’re calling Office Hours with Kevin Kline, Patrick Kelley, and Friends. (In case you didn’t know, I’m taking a page from the wonderful SQL Cruise events run by Tim Ford.) Here’s the plan. On the last Thursday of the month, I am getting together with my buddy Patrick Kelley, a customer success engineering manager here at SentryOne, and other friends from the Microsoft MVP community and the SentryOne team to chat about data, databases, and whatever other topics come to mind. It will be an open conversation, so you’re invited to participate in the conversation or, if you prefer to lurk, just hang out with other folks who share in your professional struggles. If it turns out that these Office Hours sessions are popular, we’ll add a second session per month.

To attend, simply join my GoToMeeting session on the last Thursday of each month at 11am EST. And just to reassure you, the Office Hours sessions are not part of a diabolically designed sales program. Registration is NOT required and you don’t have to share your contact information with me.

Add Office Hours to your calendar!

Many More Sessions on Tap

Back on April 3rd, I wrote a blog post inviting any SQL Server user group leader who had to cancel in-person events due to the pandemic to enlist my help and that of other speakers at SentryOne. I’ve already presented to the Richmond and Vermont user groups, and I have a lot more user group presentations scheduled. And since all the sessions are virtual, we don’t have to limit attendance to only local data pros. So, in the spirit of more sharing, more learning, and more community, here’s what I have planned for the next few weeks:

  • May 6: Sacramento10 Query Tuning Techniques Every SQL Developer Should Know (200 level)
  • May 9: Northern Ohio—Topic is TBD
  • May 14: RichmondQuery Internals for the Advanced SQL Developer (400 level)
  • June 18: Kansas CityEnd-to-End Troubleshooting Checklist for SQL Server (200 level)

If you want me to speak at your virtual event in North America, drop us an email. If your virtual event is outside of North America, get in touch with us here. We will get the conversation rolling from there.

Free Webinars

I hope you’ve had a chance by now to join me for one of my regularly scheduled webinars. For example, the inimitable Denny Cherry and I presented the webinar “Top 5 Tips to Keep Data and Applications Available on April 22nd. And coming up on May 6th, I am presenting a webinar on “Surprising Setbacks for Data Modernization and Azure Migration.” I hope you’ll check it out!

Cheers!
