JavaScript Date getMinutes() Method

JavaScript Date getMinutes() Method is used to fetch the minutes from the given Date object.
Syntax:

DateObj.getMinutes()

Parameter: This function does not accept any parameter.

Return Value: It returns the minutes for the given Date Object. Minutes is an integer value ranging from 0 to 59.:

The below examples illustrate JavaScript Date getMinutes() Method:

Example 1:

// Here a date has been assigned
// while creating Date object
let DateObj = new Date('October 15, 1996 05:35:32');
 
// minutes from above DateObj is being
// extracted using getMinutes().
let minutes = DateObj.getMinutes();
 
// Printing minute.
console.log(minutes);


Output:

35

Example 2: Here the date of the month must lie between 1 to 31 because no date has a month greater than 31 that is why it returns NaN i.e, not a number because the date for the month does not exist, minutes will not exist when date of the month is given as 35 i.e, greater than 31.

// Here a date has been assigned
// while creating a Date object
let DateObj = new Date('October 35, 1996 05:35:32');
 
// minutes from above DateObj is
// being extracted using getMinutes()
let minutes = DateObj.getMinutes();
 
// Printing minutes
console.log(minutes);


Output:

NaN

Example 3: If minutes are not given, it returns zero (0).

// Here a date has been assigned
// while creating Date object
let DateObj = new Date('October 12, 1996');
 
// minutes from above DateObj is
// being extracted using getMinutes()
let minutes = DateObj.getMinutes();
 
// Printing minutes
console.log(minutes);


Output:

0

Example 4: If nothing as a parameter is given, it returns the present minute.

// Creating a date object
let DateObj = new Date();
 
// minutes from above DateObj is
// being extracted using getMinutes()
let minute = DateObj.getMinutes();
 
// Printing current minute
console.log(minute);


Output:

23
