A project on GitHub called kernel file descriptor (kfd) reportedly allows read and write to kernel memory on iPhones and iPads on firmware 16.5 and older.
If combined with a PPL bypass, Dopamine developer Lars Fröder says a jailbreak could be possible, but he also said he doesn’t plan to work on one.

A jailbreak hobbyist has used an ASUS ROG Ally handheld gaming system running Windows 11 Home to jailbreak an iPhone X running iOS 16 with openra1n, an unofficial fork of the palera1n jailbreak tool that utilizes the checkm8 bootrom exploit to pwn iOS 15 and 16.

NoVulnTools2 for MacDirtyCow
You can use NoVulnTools2 to customize various aspects of your iPhone and iPad system UI without a jailbreak.
It works with the MacDirtyCow exploit, which means it can be installed on iOS & iPadOS 15.0-16.1.2.

Checkra1n Lock for MacDirtyCow
The Checkra1n-Lock add-on for MacDirtyCow devices running iOS 15.0-16.1.2 can be used to replace the Lock Screen’s native Face ID glyph with a checkra1n-inspired chess piece animation.

OneUI Settings
You can use the OneUI Settings add-on for the MacDirtyCow exploit to make your iPhone’s Settings app look more like the one on a Samsung smartphone.
The tweak changes the icons that appear on the left side of every preference pane to make this happen, much like a theme would, except that this method doesn’t require a jailbreak.

SoundManager
You can use a MacDirtyCow add-on called SoundManager to change system sounds on your jailbroken or non-jailbroken iPhone or iPad.
Once installed, the tweak adds a new preference pane where you can assign completely un-stock sounds to various actions taken by the user or the device. If you don’t like what the add-on comes with, then you can upload your own sounds.
