Important stuff from this week
iOS & iPadOS 17 announced
Apple took the stage at WWDC 2023 to announce new firmware updates coming to all of its platforms this Fall, to include iOS and iPadOS 17.
These updates bring a handful of new features to Apple’s mobile platforms, however it’s worth noting that there won’t be a jailbreak for these firmware versions for a very long time unless you have a checkm8-vulnerable iPad capable of running iPadOS 17.

iOS 17 won’t support iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus
Apple made the decision to stop supporting the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus starting with iOS 17, which is expected to deal a major blow to jailbreaking.
That’s because these devices are susceptible to the checkm8 hardware-based bootrom exploit that Apple hasn’t been able to patch.

Palera1n jailbreaks checkm8 iPad running iPadOS 17
The palera1n team showed off a jailbroken checkm8 iPad running iPadOS 17 this week, which shows that it will indeed be possible to take advantage of the checkm8 bootrom exploit to jailbreak older iPads running the latest version of iPadOS.
There’s no ETA for when this will be made public, but since iPadOS 17 is currently in beta for developers, there’s no real rush to make that happen as of yet.

Palera1n to get iPadOS 17 & Apple TV support
While iOS 17 won’t be supported on any checkm8-vulnerable devices, iPadOS 17 and tvOS 17 will.
The palera1n team says it has every intention of supporting iPadOS 17 via a rootless jailbreak on those devices that support it, and that Apple TV support would eventually make its way to palera1n as well.

Sileo v2.5 released
Sileo was updated to version 2.5 on Thursday to add preliminary iOS 17 support, new icons, and optional analytics that could help the Sileo Team improve features for more users.

You can use the new Ding jailbreak tweak to customize your iPhone’s ring/silent switch and choose what happens when you actuate it.

DarkPods
It’s kind of weird how Apple’s AirPods pairing interface on the iPhone doesn’t obey your dark mode setting and instead blares you in the face with a white background.
Fortunately, the DarkPods jailbreak tweak by iCraze fixes that problem by giving you a dark mode-supported AirPods pairing interface.

BlueFinder gets rootless support
BlueFinder is a useful jailbreak tweak for finding your lost iPhone with a paired Bluetooth device, such as AirPods or a Bluetooth speaker. Just this week, the tweak added support for rootless jailbreaks.
By connecting the Bluetooth device at least two times in a row, the iPhone will ring, vibrate, and strobe the rear-facing LED flash to make it easier to find.

No2Theft gets rootless support
The popular No2Theft anti-theft jailbreak tweak has been updated to support rootless jailbreaks on iOS 15 and 16, such as Dopamine and palera1n.
With this tweak, you can be alerted under circumstances when the tweak thinks your iPhone could be involved in a heist. The tweak takes photos with the front-facing camera and gathers GPS coordinates and then emails or text messages those to you. It also fires loud alarms under circumstances when someone might be trying to gain unauthorized access to your iPhone.

SwitchShades gets rootless support
SwitchShades, a popular jailbreak tweak for colorizing the background of the App Switcher interface based on the dominant color of the app preview card you’re looking at, has been updated to take advantage of the rootless dynamic used by modern iOS 15 and 16 jailbreaks such as Dopamine and palera1n.
