Important stuff from this week

iOS 16 PPL bypass shown off

While a release seems highly unlikely, talented hacker and security researcher @pattern_f_ showed off what appears to be a working PPL bypass for iOS 16 devices.

A PPL bypass is the final remaining piece required to make an iOS & iPadOS 16 jailbreak possible since we already have the kfd kernel exploit for iOS & iPadOS 16.0-16.5 and 16.6 beta 1.

You can learn more about the PPL bypass in our full news post.

DelayOTA to iOS 17.0 no longer possible

The last chance to DelayOTA update to iOS & iPadOS 17.0 was Tuesday of this past week, which obviously came and went.

With the upgrade method no longer working, it is no longer possible to upgrade from an older firmware to a newer firmware supported by TrollStore 2.

You can learn more about this in our full news post.

Apple released iOS 17.2.1 on Tuesday with bug fixes and improvements for iPhones.

Jailbreakers should avoid this update since it patches even more security holes. There is no public jailbreak for iOS 17 as of yet.

iOS 17.1.1 & 17.1.2 unsigned

Apple stopped signing iOS & iPadOS 17.1.1 and 17.1.2 this past week in a move that prevents iPhone and iPad owners from voluntarily downgrading their handset’s firmware via Finder or iTunes.

You can learn more about the implications of this change and why it’s important in our full news post.

TwitchDvnloader

TwitchDvnloader is a new jailbreak tweak for the Twitch app that unlocks the ability to download videos from the app — these include broadcasts, clips, and videos.

You can use this tweak to control the output file size and the length of the clip. You can even download as audio only, among other things.

You can learn all about the new TwitchDvnloader jailbreak tweak in our full review post.

Vizage

Vizage Face Unlock without Face ID.Vizage Face Unlock without Face ID.

Viazage is a new jailbreak tweak that brings camera-based face recognition to older Home Button-equipped iPhones and iPads.

The functionality looks and feels a lot like Face ID in its implementation, except that it uses the front-facing camera to scan an image of your face and compare to a baseline instead of using advanced Face ID hardware.

You can learn more about Vizage and how it works in our full review post.
