Following in the footsteps of famed Dopamine jailbreak and TrollStore perma-signing utility lead developer Lars Fröder (@opa334dev), @alfiecg_dev announced in a post shared to social media platform 𝕏 Friday morning that he will be joining the Cellebrite Labs team next month as a full time iOS security researcher.
In the most, Alfie expressed his excitement to kickstart his professional career, but importantly, he plans to wrap up and release final projects in the coming weeks before his new position begins. Alfie also confirmed his plans to stop releasing most of his work publicly after beginning his new gig.
Alfie received a lot of well-deserved congratulations and praise from the jailbreak community. He left a lasting impression after co-developing TrollStore 2, releasing a TrollStore installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0 called TrollInstallerX, creating the Vertex exploit, and even releasing legacy device jailbreaks.
That’s quite an impressive portfolio.
To say that Alfie would be missed in the jailbreak community would be an understatement, especially during a time when it feels like jailbreaking iPhones and iPads has flatlined with no foreseeable news of anything coming for modern systems.
Unfortunately, it is common for companies to snatch up this type of talent, as the jailbreak community has long been something of a proving ground for young developers who wished to get their skills noticed.
This is an excellent opportunity for Alfie, and a logical outgrowth of his extraordinary skills as a security researcher at such a young age, and we wish him the best in his endeavors.
