Today Apple has released iOS 16.0.2 which includes several important bug fixes. According to the security content, there are no fixes for any CVEs / security issues, however, there are several stability improvements.

The bugs fixed in iOS 16.0.2 are nasty, so we recommend updating to iOS 16.0.2 if you’re running iOS 16.0, iOS 16.0.1, or an older version and don’t care about jailbreaking.

All bug fixes and changes in iOS 16.0.2

While iOS 16.0.2 doesn’t focus on security improvements at all, there are several major bugs and glitches that were addressed.

Here’s a complete list of all the bugs patched by Apple in iOS 16.0.2:

• Fixes a bug where the camera may vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some third-party apps on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
• Fixes a bug that causes the display to appear completely black during device setup.
• Fixes copy and paste between apps that may cause a permission prompt to appear more than expected.
• Fixes an issue that can cause VoiceOver to be unavailable after rebooting.
• Addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced.

Is iOS 16.0.2 an important update?

We consider iOS 16.0.2 to be a major update, mostly because of the patch to the bug that causes an unresponsive Touch Screen on some iPhone models, and because of the Camera issue.

The camera bug on iPhone 14 was particularly nasty. The image would shake uncontrollably while using apps like TikTok, Snapchat, Messenger, Instagram, etc. This would make using those apps impossible.

The verdict

We recommend you update to iOS 16.0.2 as soon as possible. It’s a small update if you’re coming from iOS 16.0 or iOS 16.0.1 and it fixes device-breaking bugs.
