SafetyDetectives recently had the opportunity to speak with Patrick Young, Head of Go-to-Market (GTM) and Ecosystem at Galxe. As a leader in the Web3 space, Galxe has grown into one of the largest credential and identity networks, enabling seamless user experiences through blockchain and AI-driven technology. In this interview, Patrick shares insights into Galxe’s mission, its innovative identity and reputation systems, and how the company is tackling challenges in Web3 loyalty programs. He also discusses the launch of Gravity, Galxe’s Layer-1 blockchain, and what’s next for the company as it continues to shape the future of decentralized identity and engagement.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Galxe?

I’m Patrick Young, the Head of Go-to-Market (GTM) and Ecosystem for Galxe and Gravity. My role focuses on leading the Galxe team to build and nurture long-term strategic partnerships with key industry-leaders and up-in-coming projects that enable mass web3 adoption. My curiosity for web3 and blockchain started in school, and naturally progressed into co-founding a platform that enables enterprises and financial institutions to perform compliant digital asset treasury services. I then joined the Chainlink Labs team where I most recently ran the web3 business as Head of Web3 Sales.

Galxe has evolved into one of the largest Web3 credential and identity networks. What is the core mission of the company, and what are your flagship services?

Three years ago, our co-founders, Charles Wayn and Harry Zhang, developed a cutting-edge growth marketing tool to drive mass adoption in the web3 and blockchain space. Recognizing that a thriving community is the backbone of any successful project, they built a solution designed to foster engagement and long-term growth for our partners. However, over time we observed more opportunities to complete the overall user journey and drive additional adoption. This is when we evolved our tool into a decentralized web3 super app, a platform built to deliver a seamless end-to-end user experience through innovative modular AI, digital identity, and blockchain technology.

What makes up our platform is a robust product suite including:

  • Galxe Identity Protocol: Galxe’s Identity Protocol enables users to verify their identities across multiple platforms while maintaining privacy through ZK technology.
  • Galxe Quest: Galxe Quest is the largest web3 community-building platform with over 6,500 partners and 1.1 billion quests.
  • Galxe Earndrop:  Galxe Earndrop is a token distribution tool that simplifies airdrops by automating rewards directly to users.
  • Galxe Passport: Galxe Passport is a secure identity verification solution built on ZK technology, protecting privacy and enabling trust in Web3.
  • Galxe Score: Galxe Score is your web3 reputation, shaped by achievements, expertise, and assets, unlocking opportunities and exclusive benefits.
  • Alva: An AI copilot that offers comprehensive support in project research, quantitative trading, and identifying lucrative opportunities across the Web3 ecosystem.

Last year, we introduced Gravity, a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain built for mass adoption, powering the Galxe ecosystem for over 25 million users. Gravity achieves over one gigagas per second throughput and sub-second finality.

How does Galxe’s identity protocol and reputation system enhance user engagement and security in the Web3 ecosystem?

It’s important to first understand the issue with centralized single digital identities and their limitations. While you can use your Google or Apple account to log in across multiple apps, you still need to complete additional sign-up fields, such as your email address, phone number, and more – which can be frustrating. Additionally, Google and Apple own your data, which means they can do whatever they want with it. Plus, if they get hacked, your data is at risk of being exposed.

At Galxe, we wanted to revolutionize this approach, allowing users to manage and verify credentials securely and privately, giving our users complete control over their data. It is powered by ZKPs, allowing users to own, manage, and share verifiable credentials securely and privately. Additionally, a series of on-chain smart contracts and off-chain SDK tools allow developers to issue and authenticate credentials seamlessly. We currently have a total of 210,674,054 credential holders in our ecosystem.

What challenges do projects face when implementing Web3 loyalty programs, and how does Galxe help overcome them?

Traditional loyalty programs often trap users within closed ecosystems, while Web2 limitations, combined with the complexities of Web3—such as managing wallets, private keys, and gas fees—can deter user participation altogether. On the backend, many of these web3 loyalty programs fall short, failing to deliver on the promise of interoperability or liquidity for their tokenized rewards

But most importantly, crafting effective Web3 loyalty programs requires thoughtful strategy. It’s not just about creating simple actions; teams must consider how to leverage interactions to educate users, foster long-term community engagement, and implement token incentives like immediate rewards and airdrops. This approach helps reward high-impact users without devaluing the rewards pool, ensuring that loyalty programs drive meaningful engagement rather than fleeting participation.

Galxe addresses these challenges through its end-to-end innovative platform. Our products such as Quest provide a simple, no-code way for projects to design and launch loyalty campaigns, significantly lowering technical barriers. By operating onchain, Galxe ensures that rewards are verifiable, interoperable, and owned by users. This fosters trust and long-term engagement. With over 32 million users and 73,000 campaigns powered by Quest, Galxe enables projects to reach wide audiences while building sustainable communities

What’s next for Galxe? Are there any upcoming innovations or partnerships that you’re excited about?

As I mentioned previously, we launched Gravity, Galxe’s Layer-1 blockchain optimized for cross-chain interactions that is set to go live on mainnet in Q3. To fuel the growth of the Gravity ecosystem we launched a $50 million fund aimed at supporting projects building on Gravity. Plus, an additional $5 million in grants has been allocated to attract developers who can leverage Gravity’s infrastructure and vast community.

On the more technical front, we launched Grevm 1.0 in December 2024, an open-source, parallel Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) runtime that is “the technological core” of Gravity, facilitating almost 800,000 daily transactions running on Galxe’s ecosystem. What makes Grevm unique is that it is the fastest current open-source parallel EVM implementation to date. Just last week, we announced Grevm 2.0, achieving near-optimal performance in low-contention scenarios, matching Block-STM with 16.57 gigagas/s for Uniswap workloads and outperforming it with 95% less CPU usage in inherently non-parallelizable cases by 20–30%, achieving performance close to sequential execution.

Additionally, upcoming collaborations with industry leaders, not only in web3 but in web2 as well, will continue to fuel Galxe’s commitment to expanding its reach into various web3-native and non-web3-native sectors. Looking ahead, Galxe remains dedicated to driving innovation and fostering a thriving Web3 ecosystem by empowering developers, enhancing user experiences, and forming strategic alliances across industries beyond web3.
