SafetyDetectives recently spoke with Karolis Toleikis, CEO of IPRoyal, a company redefining how businesses and individuals access and use proxy networks. In our conversation, Karolis discussed the inspiration behind IPRoyal’s founding, how the company builds trust through transparency and ethical sourcing, and why reliability remains at the heart of its services. He also shared insights into how emerging technologies like AI and blockchain are shaping the future of the proxy and web data industries — and what’s next on IPRoyal’s roadmap.
Can you share what inspired the creation of IPRoyal and the problem you set out to solve?
I’ve always been passionate about IT and exploring new technologies. When I discovered that IP addresses could be leased and used for proxy networks, it immediately caught my attention.
I saw an opportunity to build a project that would not only make this process more accessible but also simplify things for clients who rely on proxies for their businesses. That was really the inspiration behind creating IPRoyal – turning something complex into a service that’s reliable, user-friendly, and truly valuable for our customers.
What sets IPRoyal’s proxy services apart in such a competitive market?
What really sets us apart is the quality and reliability of our services. Our Residential proxies come with non-expiring traffic, and our datacenter proxies are fast, stable, and available in more than 60 locations worldwide. We’ve built our proxy pools from the ground up, which gives us full control over quality and performance.
On top of that, we offer 24/7 customer support because we know that in this industry, trust and responsiveness matter just as much as speed and uptime. At IPRoyal, we prioritize our clients’ needs and build trust by providing solutions they can truly rely on.
What are some of the common use cases that one would need an IP proxy, and who are your typical clients?
Proxies are used in a lot of different ways, mostly by businesses that need reliable data to make decisions or maintain smooth operations. Typical use cases include market research, brand protection, ad verification, price monitoring, and web scraping for data analysis.
That said, individual users also rely on proxies for things like privacy, safe browsing, or simply accessing geo-restricted content. Our clients range from small startups to large enterprises, all looking for solutions that are secure, reliable, and easy to scale as their needs grow.
How do you address customer concerns around privacy, transparency, and ethical use of proxies?
We focused on privacy and transparency from day one. IPRoyal implements a strict Know Your Customer (KYC) policy throughout the entire customer journey to ensure responsible proxy usage and maintain the integrity of our infrastructure.
When it comes to proxy sourcing, we partner directly with Pawns.app, a platform where informed and consenting users voluntarily share their bandwidth. This ethical approach ensures that all IP addresses in our pool are sourced transparently and with user consent, avoiding the most common risks associated with indirect sourcing.
We’re equally committed to protecting client data. Any data we do collect during onboarding is safeguarded under strict privacy standards. The data we do collect, such as usage statistics or account details, is strictly limited to what’s necessary for billing, security, and compliance purposes.
How do you see emerging technologies like AI or blockchain influencing the proxy and web data industry in the near future?
AI is already reshaping a lot of industries, and proxies are no exception. It helps us improve our own processes and make things easier for both our clients and our team. At the same time, AI also drives a growing demand for proxies.
Since it relies on massive amounts of data to learn and improve, access to reliable and diverse IPs becomes even more important. Proxies play a key role in gathering that data efficiently and securely.
Meanwhile, blockchain has the potential to bring more transparency and trust into the industry, especially around data verification and resource distribution. Together, these technologies are already shaping the way proxies and web data are used.
Looking ahead, what’s next for IPRoyal—what developments or initiatives are you most excited about?
Right now, our main focus is on expanding our Residential proxy pool with trusted sources and making the product as stable as possible. Downtime isn’t an option for our clients. Reliability is a top priority in this industry, and we’re committed to delivering that.
At the same time, we’re working hard on our upcoming product, WebUnblocker. With the help of AI, it will be a powerful tool for data scrapers – making the whole process more efficient and removing many of the technical barriers our clients face today.
