Inject tweaks into apps on-device & without a computer with TrollFools for TrollStore

I’ve always been amazed by the different kinds of things you can do with just TrollStore, even when you aren’t jailbroken at all, but everything that I once thought impossible seems to be coming true.

This week, iOS developers 82flex and launchctl released a new app in the Havoc repository called TrollFools that allows users to inject tweaks directly into apps on their device. It appears to draw inspiration from Patched-TS-App by iOS developers Huy Nguyen and Nathan.

Previously, those who wanted to inject tweaks into apps would have to do so using a computer, but from what we can gather, TrollFools allows this process to happen entirely on-device without the use of a computer, and it does so with the help of both insert_dylib and Ch0ma.

What this means that you can inject tweaks directly into certain apps on your device, if those tweaks pertain to the app in question. This could mean blocking ads in YouTube, or enhancing the WhatsApp Messenger app with features it otherwise didn’t support, for example.

Tweaks that TrollFools supports can come in the form of either .deb or .zip files.

Citing the TrollFools project GitHub page, the utility works with removable system apps, decrypted App Store apps, and encrypted App Store apps that have a bare dynamic library. This appears to suggest that non-removable system apps aren’t supported.

One thing that’s worth noting is that TrollFools has been written entirely out of SwiftUI, and that it works on all iOS & iPadOS versions that TrollStore supports, spanning iOS & iPadOS 14.0-17.0.

If you’re a TrollStore user and you’re interested in taking TrollFools for a spin, you can download it for free from the Havoc repository and perma-sign it with TrollStore whether you’re jailbroken or not. You can also learn more about TrollFools by visiting the project’s GitHub page.

Are you planning to inject tweaks into any of your apps with the TrollFools app? Let us know why or why not in the comments section down below.
