It’s never too early to get news about an upcoming phone, especially when it’s about Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. While Samsung has yet to offer any official news on its next-generation handsets, we’re already seeing unofficial news trickle out about some of them, like a more rounded design and the addition of a new Pro model.

As far as the Galaxy S26 Ultra, we’re getting news from SamMobile that shows that the top-end Galaxy S26 Ultra may end up with the same battery size as its predecessor. While things could always change, this specification seems to be set in stone, as the data was pulled from a certification issued to Samsung for a battery from the China Quality Certification Center.

A part gives us a clue

According to SamMobile, the part highlighted is number EB-BS948ABY which has a capacity of 4,855mAh. This is the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which means it’s pretty likely that we’re getting the same capacity in next year’s model. What’s pretty wild about this is that if Samsung doesn’t make a change, it’ll have not increased the battery since the release of the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

This phone was released back in 2020, which means that Samsung has stuck with the 5,000mAh capacity this whole time for its top flagship. Of course, if all the rumors pan out, there’s also a good possibility that the new phone will come with a fast charging speed as well. Samsung has been fairly modest with its charging improvements, but this year, it could finally get the big boost we’ve been waiting for.

We’ve seen a few numbers over the past couple of months, but anything over 60W is going to be greatly appreciated. For the most part, the Galaxy S26 Ultra should be a hit when it releases. However, the big complaint from reviewers is that the design for Samsung’s phones are quite boring, with the brand only issuing small changes, with the overall look pretty much staying the same.

While this generally isn’t a bad thing since you’re getting a device with a ton of refinement, sometimes people want something that’s more innovative and exciting. Of course, when you’re in the business of making money, it becomes harder to take risks. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge showed what happens when the brand tries to do something different.

Although it was cool in concept, the execution wasn’t really all there, with the brand delivering a compromised device that didn’t really sell all that well. Sure, it will continue to try with a new version, but it takes years of failed attempts just to get a product that’s worth taking a look at. That means tons of money invested and lost, something that consumers never get to experience.

Although Samsung hasn’t shared any official news, there’s a pretty good chance that new flagship phones will arrive sometime in January.
