Sony has revealed the three games that PlayStation Plus subscribers of all tiers will be able to redeem throughout the month of August. The standout game of the bunch is Lies of P, a beloved Korean Soulslike based on the tale of Pinocchio.
These three games are separate from the batch of games typically added to the PS Plus Premium and Extra catalog in the middle of each month. They are also available to subscribers of the basic PS Plus Essential tier, but are only available for about a month before going away.
What are the PS Plus monthly games for August 2025?
Lies of P and more
A new PlayStation Blog post has revealed that the following three titles will be available for PS Plus subscribers to redeem between August 5 and September 2. I’ve also noted what platforms they were natively developed for:
- Lies of P (PS4, PS5)
- Day Z (PS4)
- My Hero One’s Justice 2 (PS4)
Of those three games Lies of P definitely sticks out the most. It uses The Adventures of Pinocchio as an inspiration for a grim Soulslike with faster-paced combat reminiscent of Bloodborne. WIthin the Soulslike community, it’s definitely considered one of the best games in the genre not developed by FromSoftware. Particular points of praise include its unique story and refined combat that feels a lot better than many of its contemporaries. I enjoyed playing Lies of P when it was available through Xbox Game Pass, and look forward to returning to the game once it’s available through PS Plus in this way.
The other PS Plus games this month are more niche but still entertaining. Day Z is a classic survival game that popularized many of the mechanics we see in survival games and even extraction shooters today. Meanwhile, My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a flashy 3D fighter based on the popular anime and manga series My Hero Academia.
In addition to these three games, the PlayStation Blog post also reveals that Sony is releasing some free PlayStation Network Avatars to celebrate PS Plus’ 15th anniversary on August 5. They will be based on games like Cyberpunk 2077, Diablo IV, God of War: Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy, and Twisted Metal.
It’s also worth noting that when Lies of P, Day Z, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 become available on August 5, July’s PS Plus monthly games will no longer be available to redeem. Make sure you download Diablo IV, The King of Fighters XV, and Jusant before then to be safe.
