This past weekend, the annual Las Vegas fighting game tournament Evolution Championship Series, typically branded as Evo, took place. The developers behind Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear Strive, and more fighting games came to EVO to make some announcements.

While some announcements were for game updates or teasing upcoming titles, this year’s show was dominated by an eclectic bunch of DLC fighter reveals. These new characters were a mix of original creations, ones returning from previous games in the series, and crossover characters from completely different games or shows. If you didn’t watch EVO, these are the announcements to know about.

Which fighting game characters were announced at Evo 2025?

Lucy, C. Viper, Armor King, and more

Evo’s reveals weren’t part of a single showcase, but slowly unveiled between tournaments over the course of a weekend. That’s why it can be hard to keep track of what announcements were made at the event. To help, I’ve created a list of all the characters revealed for fighting games at Evo 2025. With the exception of Omni-Man in Invincible VS, these are all DLC characters for existing fighting games:

  • Lucy from Cyberpunk Edgerunners comes to Guilty Gear Strive on August 21
  • C. Viper is coming to Street Fighter 6 this fall
  • Armor King is coming to Tekken 8 on October 16
  • Tekken 8 will get a Madagascar stage and a Malagasy character, Miary Zo.
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC character Wilnas is out today
  • Street Fighter’s Ken Masters is now part of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ roster.
  • Izumi comes to Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys:Celes on August 19
  • Neferpitou comes to Hunter X Hunter: Nen X Impact this fall
  • Galvan comes to Rivals of Aether 2 on October 7
  • Onmi-Man was revealed for Invincible VS

Of everything revealed, I’m most looking forward to playing as Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ Lucy in Guilty Gear Strive. That anime based on CD Projekt Red’s popular RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is fantastic, and developer Arc System Works seems to have adapted her hacking abilities in a very creative way for its fast-paced fighter. I also like the look of Armor King’s wrestling-inspired moveset in Tekken 8, which may tease me enough to commit to and get good at that 3D fighter.

These weren’t even the only fighting game titles shown off at the event. We learned that both Sony’s Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls and Riot Games’ 2XKO will get closed betas in September. On the Virtua Fighter front, we received confirmation that Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O. is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X on October 30 and got a glimpse at gameplay from the next game in the series.

All of these announcements and the exciting tournaments that took place at Evo this weekend show what a healthy future the fighting game genre has. Evo itself has a bright future too, with future events in Las Vegas, France, Japan, and even Singapore announced on the final night.
