With just ten days to go until the launch of Battlefield 6, EA released the first post-launch roadmap for the upcoming first-person shooter. It gives us a better idea of what to expect throughout Season 1 of the game.

These post-release updates will include new maps, modes, weapons, and more. The roadmap makes it very clear that players have a lot to look forward to throughout Battlefield 6’s first two months on the market, even if there are questions about its long-term prospects under EA’s new owners.

Battlefield 6 Season 1 will begin on October 28 and add lots of new content across three major updates, each of which has its own name. The Rogue Ops update launches on October 28 to kick things off. It will be followed up by California Resistance on November 18 and finally Winter Offensive on December 9.

The contents of each update were detailed by the developers in a blog. Rogue Ops is adding Strikepoint, which is a new 4v4 round-based mode with permadeath; that’s very different than the large-scale multiplayer matches typical in Battlefield games. A new map called Blackwell Fields will be added on the same day, as will the APC Traverser Mark 2 vehicle, SOR-300C carbine rifle, Mini Fix sniper rifle, GGH-22 sidearm, and Rail Cover and Lower Powered Variable Optic attachments.

Three weeks later, California Resistance is a similarly scaled update. It’ll add Sabotage, an 8v8 mode where players take turns attacking and defending different sites across a map. Battle pickups, which are map-specific special weapons, will also come to Battlefield 6 on that day. Additionally, the Eastwood map, DB-12 shotgun, M327 Trait sidearm, and Troy Angled attachment are also part of the update.

Finally, Winter Offensive wraps things up three weeks after that. It’ll fittingly bring some winter-themed updates to the game, like an “Ice Lock” version of the Empire State map and a limited-time event that makes Freeze a debuff that players have to look out for during certain modes. An Ice Climbing Axe will also be added as a new melee weapon on December 9.

We don’t know how long Season 1 will last after the Winter Offensive update. If the developers keep the cadence of releasing an update every three weeks, Season 2 could begin as early as December 30. It’s also unknown if the recent acquisition of EA by PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners will have any noticeable impact on Battlefield 6’s post-launch support.

For now, though, we should stay focused on the game’s launch and see if EA can stick to this post-launch roadmap for Battlefield 6. Not all live service games can even accomplish that.
