Only 3 Steps (Quick + Easy) to Block Ads on Peacock:

  • Download and install an ad blocker. I recommend Private Internet Access — it has an excellent ad blocker bundled with one of the best VPNs on the market in 2025.
  • Enable the ad blocker. Once the app is installed on your device, open it and enable the relevant settings (this should only take a minute).
  • Log into your Peacock account. Search for the content you want to stream, and enjoy it ad-free!

The easiest way to block ads on Peacock is with a good ad blocker. To find the ones that actually work, I tested every ad-blocking strategy available, including do-it-yourself solutions, standalone ad blockers, VPNs with built-in ad blockers, and even antiviruses that tout their ad-stopping capabilities.

My favorite ad blocker that works on Peacock is Private Internet Access’s MACE. It blocked every Peacock ad during my tests. As a bonus, it’s also one of the fastest VPNs on the market, so you can enjoy excellent speeds and stream in privacy. Editors’ Note: Private Internet Access and this site are in the same ownership group.

3 Ways to Block Ads On Peacock (Step-by-Step Guides)

There are a few ways to block ads while streaming on Peacock. Here’s a guide taking you through each option to help you pick the best one for you.

Method 1: Get a Quality Ad Blocker

The best option for getting rid of ads on Peacock is to use a quality ad blocker. My favorite ad blocker is actually built into one of the top VPNs on the market — Private Internet Access.

PIA’s ad blocker, PIA MACE, removes the majority of ads on Peacock that make you feel like you’re back in time watching cable TV. In my tests, it removed the most ads out of all the tools I tested — which is why it’s on our list of the best ad blockers out there.

The main reason for this is that PIA MACE doesn’t just block ads from a list. Instead, it identifies and blocks ads at the DNS level, and the majority of Peacock’s ads come at the DNS level (some server-side ads on Peacock are hard for any tool to block).

  1. Connect to the VPN. I recommend picking a nearby server so you can get the best possible speeds for buffer-free streaming (PIA has servers in every US state).

Alternative Ad Blockers

If you don’t want a VPN and are simply looking for a standalone free ad blocker, uBlock Origin is a great pick. It filters ad scripts and blocks connections to advertising domains on Peacock.

To use an adblocker like uBlock Origin, you just need to install the extension and then open Peacock. During my tests, it consistently blocked Peacock video ads from loading, but it isn’t without hiccups.

In my case, Peacock detected that I was using an ad blocker and warned me, but uBlock Origin still stopped ads from loading. All I had to do was click Dismiss and I could keep watching Peacock ad-free.

Note that Peacock doesn’t currently prohibit ad blockers or VPN use in its Terms of Service, but that could change at any time. It was already able to detect uBlock Origin; meaning it only worked because Peacock allowed it to work.

Many top antiviruses also come with ad blockers, like TotalAV and Avira. These companies include ad blockers alongside web protection and anti-malware software to provide comprehensive online security. Not only is TotalAV’s ad blocker great for watching Peacock, but it’s also excellent at protecting you from any online threats you might encounter.

Method 2: Use DNS Filtering

How to Block Ads on Peacock

A good DNS-filtering tool can block most ads on Peacock. There are some ads that get injected directly from Peacock’s servers, but most ads are done at the DNS level.

The main downside with DNS-filtering tools is that they’re often complex, with difficult setup processes, unintuitive UIs, or features requiring technical knowledge. If you’re a beginner, I recommend using a standalone ad blocker or one bundled with a VPN or antivirus software.

But if you’re up for the challenge, tools like NextDNS or AdGuard DNScan stop Peacock ads on the DNS level from loading — you can even create block lists that specifically target Peacock’s servers.

Method 3: Upgrade to Premium Plus

Another solution to remove ads on Peacock is to upgrade to Premium Plus, a higher-tier plan that gives you access to more channels and disables most advertisements.

Bear in mind though that even with Premium Plus you’ll see a few ads in things like live sporting events. Also, the Premium Plus plan costs about double what the standard plan does, so this works out a little more expensive than getting the PIA MACE ad blocker on a longer-term plan.

That said, no matter how good the ad-blocking tool you use, a security update from Peacock could eventually render it ineffective, so a Premium Plus subscription is a more reliable way to avoid most ads in the longer term.

Why Use Ad-Blocking Tools When I Can Just Upgrade?

Unfortunately, even with the Premium Plus subscription, some ads remain. Due to licensing agreements, some shows and networks will still display ads, even on the ad-free plan! Basically, you can either pay more to get an ad-free plan that still shows ads, or you can get an ad-blocking tool that can stop these ads from loading, too.

More importantly, there are many benefits to these tools besides ad blocking. For example, a VPN keeps you anonymous online — your ISP (Internet Service Provider) won’t be able to see when and what you’re streaming on Peacock (or whether you’re accessing the site at all). Plus, top VPNs can access Peacock from anywhere. The same applies when you choose a good antivirus tool with a built-in ad blocker. You get the best of both worlds: protection against malware and no annoying Peacock ads!
