The first set of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate throughout September has been revealed by Microsoft on Xbox Wire. The list of games encompasses the first half of the month, with the most notable game of the bunch being Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is an impressive day-one Xbox Game Pass title, considering that it’s one of the year’s most anticipated games. Some other indie studios are even delaying their own games to avoid it. If you’re subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate, you don’t even have to worry about buying the game if you want to experience the latest game release everyone is talking about.
What games are coming to Xbox Game Pass throughout the first half of August?
Hollow Knight: Silksong and more
Between September 2 and September 16, five new games will be added to the Game Pass Ultimate catalog. Meanwhile, one game called Nine Sols will drop down and also become available within the lower-priced Game Pass Standard tier.
Below, I’ve outlined the full list of games coming to Game Pass throughout the first half of September. I’ve noted the day each game will come to service, as well as what tiers they will be available through:
- I Am Your Beast – September 2 (Ultimate and Standard)
- Nine Sols – September 3 (Standard)
- Cataclismo – September 4 (Ultimate)
- Hollow Knight: Silksong – September 4 (Ultimate)
- PAW Patrol World – September 10 (Ultimate and Standard)
- RoadCraft – September 16 (Ultimate and Standard)
That’s not the most impressive list of games, but Hollow Knight: Silksong is the obvious standout. Team Cherry’s Metroidvania is poised to be one of the game releases of the year. While a lot of its allure came from the fact that the game was missing in action for almost six years after its announcement, the game itself does seem like it will feature some impressive animation and entertaining gameplay.
For those Game Pass Standard subscribers really envious of the fact that you don’t have access to Hollow Knight: Silksong at launch, know that Nine Sols is a great alternative. It’s also a Metroidvania with Dark Souls-inspired exploration and combat, and is one of the genre’s recent hidden gems.
What games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 15
Goodbye Wargroove 2 and more
Halfway through each month, some games leave the Xbox Game Pass catalog. On September 15, these three titles will no longer be available through this subscription service:
- All You Need is Help
- Wargroove 2
- We Love Katamari + Royal Reverie
That’s a shame, as these are actually three pretty great games. All You Need is Help is a very creative co-op puzzle game, while Wargroove 2 is an Advance Wars-inspired tactics game that I really like.
Plus, We Love Katamari + Royal Reverie is a hilariously entertaining game to play, and definitely worth checking out before a new game in the series launches in October.
