HideCallBar hides the Status Bar on jailbroken iPhones during active phone calls

The Status Bar is something that normally appears in just about every interface on your iPhone, including active phone calls. It alerts you to things like the current time, your cellular and Wi-Fi signal strengths, and your battery level, just to name a few things.

But if you’ve ever wished that the Status Bar didn’t show in the active phone call interface on your iPhone, then you’re in luck, because iOS developer CydiaGeek has released a free jailbreak tweak called HideCallBar that hides it, providing jailbreakers with the aesthetic depicted in the screenshot example above.

As you can see, the privacy dots that let you know your microphone is being used during the call don’t go anywhere, but all Status Bar-relevant UI elements are absent from the active phone call interface, offering a cleaner appearance that speaks more fluently to minimalism.

With no options to configure, this is effectively a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of jailbreak tweak, so the only way to disable it after installing it is to uninstall it.

While minimalists might applaud such a tweak, I can think of countless reasons why I’d actually want to see my Status Bar during an active phone call, such as to make sure my phone isn’t dying by checking the battery indicator, to make sure I’m not on the phone too long by glancing at the clock, or to check that my cellular signal is adequate when I start hearing imperfections in the other person’s voice.

Having said that, while the tweak is certainly tailored to a smaller audience, it’s still good to know that such options exist when you have a jailbroken handset, especially if you value customizations like these.

Those wanting to give the HideCallBar jailbreak tweak a try can download it for free from the BigBoss repository via their favorite package manager app, such as Sileo or Zebra. The tweak supports jailbroken iPhones running iOS 13, 14, 15, and 16.

Do you plan to use HideCallBar, or do you use the Status Bar while you’re in the middle of calls? Let us know in the comments section down below.
