The Google Pixel 10a was soft-launched a few days ago in a short teaser trailer from Google’s website and X profile, but we’re still in the dark where official specs and the like are concerned. However, the upcoming Pixel phone’s colorways have supposedly been leaked, if images from Android Headlines are to be believed (via T3).
If this leak is accurate, than we can expect the Pixel 10a to come in similar colors to the Pixel 9a, but with the saturation turned up. The Pixel 10a may the most vibrant Pixel phone we’ve had yet.
The Pixel 10a will pop with color
We’d already seen the Pixel 10’s Lavender colorway in Google’s announcement of the phone, and it was pretty clear that it was a stronger version of the Pixel 9a’s Iris color. However, we didn’t expect Google to just take the Pixel 9a’s variants and up the color a little bit — but that’s exactly what it seems to have done.
According to Android Headlines, we’ll be seeing the Pixel 10a in four colorways, known as Lavender (blue), Obsidian (gray), Fog (off-white), and Berry (pink). These line up pretty neatly with the Pixel 9a’s four colors, which are Iris, Obsidian (again), Porcelain, and Peony.
The trend for phone colors in recent years has been trending towards the more muted, with such bright and bold colors largely falling to the wayside.
It’s notable that one color is missing, the supposed “Indigo” from the Pixel 10. Looking at Evan Blass’s images again, it’s likely what was taken as the Pixel 10’s Indigo color is more likely to be the Lavender colorway instead. Though there’s also always the possibility that one variant has been held back from the leaks.
Google’s soft launches are always fun because all it does is tell us a device exists — it doesn’t give us any official specs or details. As such, the rumor mill keeps on churning right up until the official announcement. In a break from tradition, it’s rumored the Pixel 10a will not offer the same chip as its flagship cousins. Instead, the Pixel 10a will largely be a slightly refreshed version of the Pixel 9a, complete with a Tensor G4 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 6.3-inch display.
It seems unlikely Google would use the Pixel 10a to essentially offer us a bolder version of the Pixel 9a, but that is definitely on the cards right now. The good news is the Pixel 10a will be announced on February 18, so there’s not long to wait.
