Summary
- Grok’s Android app is officially available in the US after a slow rollout.
- Grok can be accessed with an X (Twitter) account and offers in-app purchases.
- Free users of Grok’s Android app are limited to 10 queries every 2 hours, with in-app purchases available for more features.
Grok entered pre-registration on Android back in February, and even though the official release date was March 4th (just ask Grok, you’ll see), it looks like the slow rollout of the Android app started picking up steam around the 20th, where the Play Store lists the 24th as the release date. In other words, Grok’s Android app is now officially available across the US, with those who pre-registered finally receiving their notifications to install.
Another AI app joins the fold in app form
This time from xAI
If you’re unfamiliar with xAI, perhaps you’ve heard of a website called X (formally Twitter). Grok is the AI you’ll find on the site, and like most AIs these days, an app for mobile was inevitable. Like many apps, Grok launched on iOS first, back in January, with the Android version only entering pre-registration in February. Well, despite an official release date of March 4th on Android, the rollout was slow, but it appears things are finally concluding with access for everyone in the US. Basically, the Grok floodgates are now open on Android.
All you need is an X (Twitter) account to log in and start using the app, though the free tier is limited to 10 queries every 2 hours. This is why there are in-app purchases listed for the app, which range up to $300 per item. This means you can subscribe to SuperGrok within the Android app, which is $30 a month or $300 a year. SuperGrok gains users priority access, advanced tools like Big Brain Mode, and drops the limits on image generation. Of course, if you’re already an X Premium+ subscriber, you can get SuperGrok at 50% off.
If you’d like to try Grok’s new Android app for yourself, you can snag the install through the Play Store widget below. Keep in mind there are limitations for free users, but at the very least, you can take the new AI app for a spin and see how it compares to the rest.
