If you’ve been waiting for Google’s AI-powered search to stop being so English-centric, your wait is over. Google just made AI Mode in Search a lot more accessible.

Google has officially rolled out AI Mode in Spanish globally, which means Spanish speakers around the world can now use Google Search in a more conversational, interactive way, assuming AI Mode is live in their country. This means users can ask questions in natural Spanish phrasing, upload images, follow up on topics, explore complex ideas, and get answers in back-and-forth exchanges rather than just static search results.

This Spanish rollout builds on an earlier expansion earlier in August, when Google made AI Mode available in English in over 180 additional countries (beyond the U.S., U.K., and India). Alongside that, Google introduced agentic capabilities to some users via its AI Ultra subscription tier, including restaurant reservations, with more types of appointments and event ticket purchases promised down the road.

Before Spanish joined the list, Google had already expanded AI Mode beyond English for the first time by adding support for five non-English languages: Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Not everyone gets it at the same time

The rollout in Spanish starts immediately, but it’s not instantaneous for everyone. Some users may have to wait a few days or longer, depending on their region, before AI Mode shows up. Also, not all premium features are active in every country or language yet, so things like restaurant bookings via AI Mode currently work only for those with the right subscription in eligible places.

One thing Google is careful to clarify: AI Mode is different from AI Overviews. Overviews are quick summaries that appear at the top of search results, while AI Mode is a deeper, conversational experience using Gemini where you can upload media, refine your queries over time, follow up, and more.

Overall, the inclusion of additional major languages makes it clear Google is pushing to make AI Mode feel native, not just translated, across many cultures and areas. If you speak Spanish (or any of the new supported languages), expect your search to feel more powerful and flexible in the coming days.
