Google Wallet has been on a roll since last year. The app has transformed from a platform dedicated to storing your banking cards to one that can store transit passes, loyalty and gift cards, event passes, and even digital IDs.

Currently, the app lets you store your driver’s license, state-issued ID, and passport, making it much easier and secure for you to carry your vital documents around without the fear of leaving them behind or having them stolen.

Initially limited to a few states, digital ID support is quickly expanding across the US, with those in Iowa now primed to take advantage of the functionality.

For reference, Google announced digital ID support for Iowa all the way back in September 2024. Roughly ten months in, support is finally starting to show up for users, as spotted by 9to5Google.

Check your wallet for Iowa

This comes soon after Google announced that Arkansas, Montana, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia were next in line to receive digital ID support. That was late in April. If Google moves at the same speed, users in those states can expect support to land by early 2026.

To check if Iowa digital ID support has been rolled out to you, open the Google Wallet app and tap the ‘+ Add to Wallet‘ floating action button (FAB). Tap on ID → Driver’s license or state ID → look for Iowa.

Once you’ve selected your state, tap Get Started. Follow the on-screen prompts. Exact procedures differ by state, though they’ll likely include scanning your ID document, and providing relevant verification information. The app will also likely scan your face for verification.

Support is live for us on Google Wallet version 25.23.769869397.
