Google just got done winding up its annual developer conclave, I/O, earlier this month, but it appears we might have another major event looming on the horizon, this time for new hardware. The company usually launches its latest range of Pixel devices in the second half of the year, historically between August and October. However, recent communication to Pixel Superfans reveals this year’s flagship may arrive much sooner, in late June.
Google’s Pixel launch window is all over the place, and often hard to predict even based off historical data. Moreover, this year, Google has already broken protocol a few times, most recently splitting the Android announcements from I/O and releasing them a week prior so its AI and mixed reality efforts could hog the limelight during the keynote address. Even Android 16, with its snazzy new Material 3 Expressive design language, entered early previews sooner than its predecessor. Google also pulled the wraps off the budget-oriented Pixel 9a two whole months ahead of the 8a’s unveiling last year.
Until now, the much-anticipated Pixel 10 series launch was projected for August 2025, but Google just sent out a note to Pixel Superfans, inviting them to a closed-door session with “upcoming devices” alongside several other perks, like exclusive Pixel-themed merch and interactions with Google staff. While the invite doesn’t name the Pixel 10 explicitly, there aren’t many other upcoming devices from the company to look forward to in the short term. This event, called Pixel Penthouse, will take place on June 27, and Android Authority speculates that it sets the precedent for a Pixel 10 debut much earlier than usual, in late June or early July.
Google’s secrets are closely guarded
More evidence points to the same thing
Notably, Google invited Superfans for a Tech Talk the same day it unveiled the Pixel 6 series, so we cannot rule out the possibility of history repeating itself, and the company revealing the device on or around June 27. Moreover, we’ve noticed that Google is generally tight-lipped about upcoming hardware, but it seems to intentionally let slip a few details to drum up hype, like when the first Pixel Watch was accidentally forgotten at a bar and leaked. Most recently, a similar leak revealed the Pixel 10 we’re anticipating, through an ad shoot. It would be on-brand for Google to excite potential buyers for the device ahead of the official launch.
Additional evidence corroborating this rather early launch timeline comes from Android 16, which seems on track for shipping as a stable build on the new hardware powered by TSMC silicon instead of Samsung. At the pre-I/O Android show this month, Google made it clear it targeted June for a stable software launch.
That said, only 25 people will get to attend the aforementioned Pixel Penthouse event, and applications close on June 4. Winners will be picked on June 11.
