While Gemini steals the spotlight with its deep integration across Android and other Google services, it’s NotebookLM that is the most powerful and practical of the company’s AI tools. And the best part? Google keeps improving NotebookLM, and it recently even added support for featured notebooks, showing curated content from experts in the relevant field. Now, Google seems to be working on bringing NotebookLM to Gemini, combining two of its most powerful AI apps.

An Android Authority teardown of the latest Google app beta (16.30.59.sa.arm64 beta) points to Google bringing NotebookLM integration to Gemini. The option to import notebooks will reportedly appear in the same menu where you currently add images, files, or Google Drive documents to Gemini. The team could only get to the menu, with the app not showing any of their notebooks in NotebookLM.

It’s unclear what Google intends to do here, but this integration could open several use cases. For example, you can directly add sources from a Gemini chat to NotebookLM or vice versa. Likewise, you can tell Gemini to refer to a particular notebook in NotebookLM and use it as a source alongside information from the web.

There’s possibly a lot more that Google could do with this NotebookLM-Gemini integration. But since the feature does not work right now, we will have to wait for a future beta build or for the company to officially announce this integration and its use cases. Don’t expect this to happen anytime soon, though, given that the feature does not work in the latest beta.

Gemini and NotebookLM keep getting better

Google recently rolled out Deep Think to Gemini’s Android app, albeit only to Google AI Ultra subscribers. And for students and educators with Gemini for Education access, the company made Gemini 2.5 Pro free and increased the usage limits. As for NotebookLM

So, Google integrating Gemini and NotebookLM holds a lot of promise. It will combine Gemini’s conversational AI capabilities with NotebookLM’s deep document understanding and research features, making them even more powerful productive tools.
